Job description

We are partnering with a premier, rapidly expanding automotive parts manufacturer to find a highly skilled Paint Engineering Coordinator. With over 35 years of industry excellence, our client is expanding their facility and needs a technical expert to support the design of paint jigs, program robotic paint systems, and troubleshoot production issues related to materials and processes. In this role, you will be instrumental in new project development, event trial production, and training teams on new system equipment. If you have a strong background in automated paint operations and the bilingual skills to act as a vital liaison between the local facility and international partners, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow with a thriving company.

Job Roles and Responsibilities
  • Advise on and support the design of fixtures, paint jigs, and complex robotic paint programs used in the manufacturing of automotive products.

  • Assist the Paint Engineering and Management teams with the redesign, repair, and production control of jigs, hardware, and tooling.

  • Provide expert guidance on paint processes, methods, robot programs, error-proofing (poka-yoke), and production controls for new programs.

  • Research manufacturing processes and support the approval of modifications to standards, specifications, and processes.

  • Collect and research paint defect appearance data, synthesizing complex information and utilizing basic statistics to drive solutions.

  • Lead and assist the painting team with Kaizen (continuous improvement) initiatives and 5S training activities.

  • Train and educate plant painting engineers and production team members on the proper operation of new equipment and systems.

  • Act as the primary liaison between the client's local operations and their international partners/headquarters.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, swiftly reacting to shifting business needs while maintaining strict safety, security, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Certifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated experience in painting operation work, ideally within a manufacturing or automotive environment.

  • Language Skills: Japanese language proficiency is required. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents in Japanese, as well as effectively present information to top management and international stakeholders.

  • Technical/Mathematical Skills: Knowledge of basic paint chemistry and painting process methodologies. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (e.g., exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations).

  • Computer Skills: Proficient in database software, internet platforms, spreadsheets, and word processing applications.

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high ethical standards, and excellent organizational skills. A collaborative mindset with a dedication to teaching and mentoring others.
