Title: QA Engineer: Software Developer in Test
Industry: Autonomous Vehicle / Technology
Location: Foster City, CA
Duration: Approximately 6 months
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for backend APIs, background workers, and microservices across development, staging, pre-production, and production environments.
  • Develop performance and load tests using K6 or equivalent, including realistic data-driven scenarios against REST APIs at scale.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and release workflows; support release validation, regression sign-off, and production rollouts.
  • Validate release-critical behavior, including data consistency, schema migrations, API contracts, cross-service integrations, and new feature or defect-fix functionality.
  • Monitor release health through dashboards, logs, and test results; triage failures, identify quality trends, collaborate with engineering, and document test plans and release criteria.
Requirements
  • Strong Python and/or TypeScript proficiency for test automation, API testing, and data validation; experience with REST testing frameworks such as pytest or requests and schema/contract validation.
  • Hands-on experience with performance and load testing tools such as K6 or Locust, plus SQL proficiency for quality-data analysis, metrics, and triage.
  • Familiarity with staged software delivery, version tags, environment promotion, production change management, Git, code review workflows, and CI systems.
  • Ability to debug distributed services in containerized environments using logs, health checks, and basic cluster tooling; familiarity with observability, cloud data stores, or workflow orchestration is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in QA, release management, software quality metrics, high-availability SaaS, or geospatial/mapping platforms is preferred.
