Job description

You are applying for a position through Medix, a staffing agency. The actual posting represents a position at one of our clients.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant responsible for preparing examination rooms, assisting in obtaining vital patient information, helping physicians during exams, managing patient flow, and coordinating with pharmacies, labs, and imaging facilities. This role includes performing Point of Care testing, administering injections, and maintaining systems like EPIC.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and sanitize examination rooms for patient visits.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, health history, chief complaints, and symptoms.
  • Assist physicians or APNs during exams and procedures.
  • Perform Point of Care testing and administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Update and maintain patient information in EPIC and handle referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies, labs, and imaging facilities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some medical assistant experience
  • Maturity and problem-solving skills
  • Clinical experience including administering injections and performing EKGs
  • Ability to take manual blood pressure
  • Injection training
  • Positive attitude
  • Preferred: Experience with EPIC software

Additional Requirements
  • Mostly 8am-5pm schedule with a rotating Saturday schedule once a quarter
