Job Description - Sr. Field Quality Manager

General Description

The Sr. Field Quality Manager will be responsible for leading project quality team through the planning, execution, and close-out phases of a project. Work in close cooperation with the project and quality management for development and implementation of project required activities. Ensure that field quality teams are executing the quality requirements of respective projects through monitoring and oversight. Assist the Director of Quality in the maintenance of the quality management system. Provide input and leadership for development and implementation of best practices lessons learned. Participate in required internal and external audits that are contract required or certification required as applicable. Provide input to the vision and goals of company mission values.

What You'll Do
  • Duties

    • Provides input from lessons learned and best practices for performing project related quality activities to aid in the annual maintenance of QISG's Quality Management System in compliance with international standards (ISO 9001) and client specifications.
    • Manages comprehensive contract and project documentation related to quality management activities, including reports, records, and audits.
    • Verifies that established quality requirements for design-build and EPC projects, including identifying the standards, guidelines, and checklists appropriate for the project are effective after implementation.
    • Develops project audit plans, including schedule, documentation and resource requirements.
    • Works closely with Quana Operating Units and subcontractors assigned QC personnel to ensure that quality plan deliverables are met as planned.

    Monitoring and Oversight

    • Ensures all project quality management activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of quality performance metrics to senior management.
    • Reviews and approve quality plans, procedures, and inspection reports.
    • Performs and or schedule systematic and independent examinations/audits of project or surveillance program activities to evaluate implementation, procedural execution, compliance, and effectiveness to the project quality management plan.
    • Assists in identifying and documenting issues that may cause, or contribute to, deviations from planned/expected outcomes and develop corrective action plans to address issues.
    • Document Control - Verifies that project documents used at the jobsite are updated, maintained, and stored in accordance with project procedures. This includes design drawings, supplier and subcontractor drawings, test records, etc.
    • Non-Conformance Control - Verifies that non-conformances are identified, documented, tracked, and resolved by the PM and the site CM implements the verification in an acceptable manner.

    Team Interaction

    • Reports to project management on the performance of the quality.
    • Implements procedural improvements and best practices based on audit results/experiences and lessons learned.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality metrics, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Regularly interact with field Construction operations teams, corporate operations support and project controls teams, and the client.

    Guidance and Leadership

    • Acts as a catalyst for change and improvement in Performance/Quality.
    • Provides leadership, support and guidance for quality Management activities on design-build / EPC projects.
    • Lead and provide guidance to team members.
    • Leads quality-related discussions during project kick-off meetings.
    • Provides project team QMP training & awareness regarding activities planned for the Project.
    • Performs any other duties assigned.
    • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
What You'll Bring
  • Required Experience and Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years' experience or associate's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 7 years' experience or a minimum of 12 years of experience in design quality management, surveillance monitoring, and corporate/operations/project/quality management.
    • Successful development and implementation of quality programs and procedures.
    • Advanced proficiency in Procore principles and tools to execute a Quality Management Program.
    • Successful management level supervision of quality staff.
    • Experience working in multiple states and understanding state and local codes relating to quality.
    • Strong background in safety requirements and environmental considerations.
    • Leadership and inspection experience in surveillance oversight programs.
    • Leadership expertise performing quality assurance process and procedures on construction projects that have engineering, material management and construction activities.
    • Technical expertise in managing inspection and testing programs.
    • Strong ability to evaluate and analyze objectives and KPI's and provide solutions to implement findings and recommendations.
    • Advanced understanding of critical path scheduling.
    • 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certification.

    Preferred Experience and Education

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (construction management sciences, electrical or civil engineering), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • CMQ/OE Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
    • Certifications in civil and electrical inspection, testing, welding inspection, structural bolting, testing, and commissioning.
    • Five years of experience in quality or construction management of EPC, Design Build or CMAR projects.
    • Ten years of experience performing engineering design quality management, surveillance monitoring of equipment or materials production facilities or construction quality management in the power delivery space.

    Skills

    • Technical expertise related to design, construction and related procurement requirements.
    • Advanced knowledge of construction technique and tools/equipment used, testing, standards compliance, etc.
    • Technical expertise of equipment and material specifications and testing requirements employed at manufacturer facilities.
    • Excellent critical thinking skills and strong attention to details.
    • Strong Organizational and Planning skills
    • Good Communicator with strong Interpersonal and Team-working Skills
    • Confident / Take Charge approach.
    • Solid understanding of critical path scheduling
    • Technical expertise in implementing Inspection and Testing programs for Civil, earthwork, power delivery, water wastewater scoped work.
    • Leading a team in a project or program setting.
