Job description

The Senior Product Owner for the Cognite Platform will shape the vision, strategy, and roadmap for MISO’s enterprise data integration platform, enabling product teams and stakeholders to connect, integrate, and leverage data across the organization. This leader will work closely with stakeholders, engineers, architects, and the Cognite Platform team to understand platform capabilities, identify opportunities, and help teams translate business needs into innovative solutions that leverage the platform effectively. They will drive adoption, prioritize work based on business value, and creatively approach solutioning to expand what is possible through the platform. As the owner of a large, enterprise-wide product, this role requires deep experience and a proven record of delivering impactful, large-scale technology solutions. With the upcoming Cognite implementation, the Senior Product Owner will guide MVP development, enable the broader enterprise through the Cognite Platform team, support organizational transformation, and ensure the platform evolves to meet both current operational needs and future innovation goals.

As MISO’s Senior Product Owner, you will:

  • Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for a complex, enterprise‑wide product line, partnering with stakeholders to set long‑term strategy and identify new opportunities.
  • Serve as the product evangelist, aligning cross‑functional teams and leaders around product objectives, desired outcomes, and enterprise value.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of the product and how it delivers value across the organization, while proactively tracking emerging user needs, industry trends, and enterprise priorities to shape strategy.
  • Synthesize complex insights and lead the development and standardization of product metrics to guide strategic direction, measure success, and influence enterprise‑level outcomes.
  • Lead discovery efforts by framing strategic questions, coordinating research activities, and ensuring insights effectively inform product and portfolio decisions.
  • Apply Agile and modern product‑management best practices to foster adaptability, iterative delivery, and user‑centered thinking across one or more teams.
  • Lead end‑to‑end Agile delivery by maintaining and prioritizing the backlog, driving sprint execution, validating completed work, planning strategic releases, and presenting product updates that demonstrate readiness and value.

Experience/Qualifications we are looking for as our Senior Product Owner:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Brings at least six years of product management, product ownership, business analysis, systems engineering, or related experience, along with ten years of relevant work in scientific, engineering, energy, or similar industries, including leading and influencing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead product strategy, manage products across their lifecycle, and align cross‑functional teams through strong collaboration and influence.
  • Proven track record of defining success metrics, synthesizing user and market data, and using critical thinking to drive clear, data‑informed decisions.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex business scenarios, identifying problems, collecting and evaluating data, and drawing sound conclusions that guide strategic product direction.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tools in product management to improve productivity, analysis, and workflow.
  • Experience with industrial or enterprise data platforms such as Cognite, Azure Data Platform, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar ecosystems, including data integration, data modeling, digital twins, asset management, or operational technology environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), APIs, event‑driven architectures, and modern data engineering practices, along with experience supporting AI, machine learning, analytics, or operational intelligence initiatives.
  • Preferred/nice to have (not required): Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager AND/OR PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner, Product Owner/System Engineering AND/OR Product Owner/UX experience, AND/OR Product Owner/Architecture experience.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $168,000 - $193,000 USDannually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
