Role Summary:

The Process Engineer supports safe, efficient mill operations by optimizing production processes, improving performance, and resolving process and control issues. Reporting to the Superintendent Process Engineering, this role plays a key part in continuous improvement, capital project execution, and operational excellence while partnering closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Your Mission:

Develop and monitor KPIs, including downtime tracking and production loss reporting, to improve process performance
Troubleshoot and analyze process and control issues to restore performance and prevent recurrence
Optimize operating conditions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain safe, stable production
Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost-saving opportunities through process optimization, waste reduction, and energy efficiency
Collaborate with Operations to provide guidance on process control, operating parameters, and improvement opportunities
Establish, document, and maintain process best practices and process control functional specifications
Support capital project development and participate in maintenance turnarounds
Monitor key process variables to improve product quality, reduce variability, and ensure efficient operations
Mentor, train, and develop engineers and operators to strengthen process knowledge and decision-making
Actively pursue ongoing personal and professional development

Your Profile:

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or related Engineering discipline
Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Alberta is an asset
Experience in pulp and paper or industrial/manufacturing environments preferred
Familiarity with process control systems and data tools (DCS, PI, Excel or similar)
Experience supporting capital projects or process improvement initiatives
Valid driver's license and ability to work in industrial environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication across all levels of the organization
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in data analysis, process control systems, and technical documentation
Continuous improvement mindset with commitment to safety and operational excellence
Leadership potential with interest in mentoring others
