Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Evaluate various power circuit topologies to achieve optimal cost/performance trade-off as part of new product development
  • Circuit simulation, analysis and testing to verify designs
  • Perform design validation through functional, safety & reliability tests to prove designs will function per specifications over the intended operating range per TDK-Lambda design criteria
  • Create test plans, document test results and drive change orders for modifying existing designs
  • Mentoring lab technicians and junior engineers
  • Perform failure analysis on field return units as needed
  • Support customers for application related issues
  • Design to meet cost constraints, safety and reliability standards

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SENIOR POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university/advanced degree or certificate
  • More than five years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
  • Hands-on experience with designing, debugging, and testing of power converters, including magnetics and control loop design.
  • Understanding of various safety standards related to power supply products.
  • Proficient in one or more of the following software: LTspice, OrCAD PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, or Mathcad.
  • Experience in High Power (1 kW to 50 kW) converter product development is preferred
  • Understanding of various power semiconductor technologies.
  • Familiarity with PCB design.
  • Understanding of EMC issues relating to high frequency switching and associated industry standards for compliance.
  • Good communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Any work experience on high voltage products with output voltage greater than 1 kV is a plus.

SALARY RANGE
The starting annual base pay for the role is between USD $120,000.00 and $150,000.00. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for variable bonus programs and benefits.
