Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Packet Digital is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will help design and develop advanced power system electronics for unmanned systems, including drones and other terrestrial, space, and naval applications.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced hardware engineer who enjoys working across the full product development lifecycle - from requirements and circuit design through PCB layout, testing, troubleshooting, and product integration.

What You'll Do
As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting electronic hardware systems. Responsibilities include:
  • Capture and define product requirements based on customer needs and engineering input
  • Research technologies, components, standards, and design approaches
  • Propose, simulate, and validate hardware architectures and circuits
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts based on project requirements
  • Provide project timeline and development estimates
  • Support product development from concept through production
  • Optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, reliability, and performance
  • Document assemblies, bills of materials, engineering changes, and related design details
  • Participate in and lead schematic, layout, and design reviews
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to complete product designs
  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and validate prototypes and finished products
  • Create technical and customer-facing documentation
  • Provide customer support as needed
  • Assist with maintaining component libraries and project databases
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and share best practices
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab and workspace
  • Support a collaborative, positive, and team-oriented work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a hands-on hardware engineer with strong experience in power electronics, embedded systems, PCB design, and battery-powered applications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of related hardware engineering experience
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Deep understanding of DC-DC power conversion and switch-mode power supply topologies
  • Experience with battery-based electric power systems

  • Experience designing hardware involving microcontrollers
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience
  • Experience with thermal analysis and thermal management strategies
  • Experience with precision analog measurements in high-noise environments
  • Experience designing for high-current and high-voltage applications
  • Experience implementing CAN, USB, and serial communication circuits
  • Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Ability to manage deadlines and support multiple project priorities
