Position Purpose:
Participates in developing and leading the strategy to integrate Process Excellence thinking into the culture of the organization. Coaches/trains individuals and teams throughout the organization from front line associates to Senior Leadership Team in problem identification and resolution, using Process Excellence (Px) principles and tools while achieving sustainable positive results for the organization. Trains Process Excellence Consultants and Specialists through their development plans. Senior Consultants are primarily responsible for the execution of the Px strategy at the departmental level for assigned areas of focus.
Status available: Full-time
Required Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree (accredited by national accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Secretary of Education) in a relevant field, e.g.; Business, Engineering, Health Administration, or other healthcare related field.
  • Preferred: Advanced degree, e.g.; MBA, or previous work experience that demonstrates an understanding of broader business needs

Licensure
  • Five to seven years of full-time experience as a Lean practitioner and/or leader, coaching frontline to senior leader level, including multi-disciplinary business groups. Experienced in advanced concepts/tools of the Toyota Production System, including a comprehensive understanding of the Lean/TPS culture, philosophy, principles and tools. Two years of healthcare operations experience.
  • Preferred: Two years of formal operations leadership experience overseeing progressively complex projects and interfacing with executive leaders. Individuals with more than 7 years of full-time experience as a Lean
    coach with experience coaching at the senior leadership level may be considered in lieu of college degree requirements.

Experience
  • Proficiency in applying Lean/TPS to health care related problems. Ability to plan for and move organizational culture toward Lean/TPS thinking. Proficiency and expertise in identifying and articulating process improvement opportunities and providing persuasive consultation. Strong communication, organizational, negotiation and leadership skills. Ability to facilitate communications between diverse groups and effectively influence and present advisory consultation. Strong interpersonal and relationship
    building skills to develop productive working partnerships with leaders, managers, and staff. Experience developing curriculum and training material utilizing adult learning principles. Strong project management, process redesign, and analytical skills. Self-motivated and self-directed in fulfilling assigned tasks/responsibilities with proven ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to analyze complex sets of information and data to understand problems clearly. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of humility, honesty, integrity, team-first orientation, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.
  • Preferred: Ability to coach senior-level leader

What you will do:
  • Coaches others to assess key initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Leads and/or participates in Px training module development. Topics may include Lean and change leadership.
  • Participates in developing and implementing Px strategy at a departmental and organization level.
  • Leads the execution of the Px strategy for assigned areas.
  • Delivers all types of Px training. Delegates work, monitors progress and provides guidance to lower-level professional staff.
  • Serves as a technical knowledge resource on Px tools to both leadership and associates.
  • Connects Px work to Mercy Health strategic plan, mission, vision, values and guiding behaviors.
  • Responsible for identifying and articulating process improvement opportunities. Provides on-going communication, consulting and analytical support to leaders, managers and associates relative to new opportunities and other issues.
