Job description

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer in Fort Meade MD to support a leading government-focused technology environment responsible for maintaining and modernizing large-scale enterprise infrastructure. The Sr. Network Engineer will serve as a trusted technical advisor, leading architecture discussions, driving network automation initiatives, and supporting mission-critical operations within a highly secure environment. The Sr. Network Engineer will need to sit onsite 5 days a week in Fort Meade MD.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Network Engineer:
  • Design, implement, and optimize enterprise network and data center infrastructure supporting high-availability operations.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex routing, switching, security, and performance-related issues across large-scale environments.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to stakeholders by translating business requirements into scalable network solutions.
  • Drive automation and operational efficiency initiatives utilizing Python, Ansible, APIs, and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams on modernization, migration, and transformation projects.
Qualifications of the Sr. Network Engineer:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise-level networking environments.
  • CCIE certification preferred; CCNP Data Center certification or equivalent advanced Cisco expertise will be considered.
  • Strong experience with routing and switching, network architecture, SD-WAN, data center infrastructure, and network security.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Ansible, APIs, Docker, GitHub, Linux, and Windows Server administration.
Compensation for the Sr. Network Engineer includes:
  • Salary range: $170,000-$200,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
