Job Description

Assists with installation, configuration, management and support of all network switch

communications (LAN/WAN systems) in accordance with the Senior Network

Engineer's overall design

Assists in the secure design, evaluation and implementation of network switching

solutions

Coordinates with ISSM for implementing, monitoring and logging network switching

security requirements

Resolves complex switching problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth

evaluation of various factors to include DNS/DHCP services

Manage NEARNG network requests via tickets submitted by users/supervisors

Monitors the network management system (SolarWinds Orion) for troubleshooting of

immediate and geographically dispersed LAN switch devices

Configures a broad variety of network switch devices such as Ethernet switches, fiber

switches, remote-access systems, out of band remote access to switches, and IDS/IPS

systems.

Monitors and coordinates changes on ForeScout CounterAct Network Access Controller

(NAC) to include 802.1x implementation/controls for network switches

Monitors trouble ticket system for immediate actions and escalates tickets as required

Develops and recommends concepts/solutions to implement layer 2 network designs

resulting in optimization of State LAN architectures

Analyzes and diagnoses hardware and iOS software problems for resolution

Submits change requests to NEC Supervisor

Serves as project associate for special projects to support voice/video/data

initiatives at the layer 2 level

Monitors and reports network system performance to management and consolidates

reports for LAN project implementation as required

Reviews and redesigns network architecture (layers 1 - 2) at all sites to optimize for

sufficient access and support

Qualifications

Associate's Degree in computer science, information technology or related technology field OR

3 year's equivalent experience in information technology, preferably networking.

Candidates MUST have Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification OR CompTIA
