Job description

Description
TITLE: Senior Media Strategist
DEPARTMENT: Media
LOCATION: Hybrid or Remote, West Coast based, must work PST hours

ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the guidance of Media Management, the Senior Media Strategist is responsible for the end-to-end development and execution of strategic, audience-driven paid media plans. This is a "hands-on-keys" role that requires a blend of high-level strategic planning and technical platform execution. You won't just receive a strategy to implement; you will own the research, build the plan, and execute the buy.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Strategic Planning & Research
  • Own the Planning Process: Lead the full media planning lifecycle, from identifying target audiences and pulling research to building and presenting final plans to clients.
  • Innovation & ROI: Develop forward-thinking plans that align with client KPIs and overall channel strategy, providing POVs on media proposals and competitive market analysis.
  • Budget Stewardship: Manage budget flowcharts, media authorizations, and invoice reconciliation from concept to completion.
Platform Execution & Optimization
  • Hands-on-Keys Execution: Directly build, launch, and optimize campaigns within digital platforms (Social, Programmatic, Search). This includes setting up new campaigns as creative assets arrive.
  • Active Optimization: Beyond pulling reports, you are expected to analyze data and immediately execute recommended changes in-platform to improve performance.
  • Digital-First Focus: While the primary focus is digital, you will act as both the planner and buyer for traditional channels like Out-of-Home (OOH) and Print.
Collaboration & Management
  • Media Integration: Partner with specialized broadcast and radio buyers, providing the strategic plan while they lead the negotiation.
  • Client Leadership: Run point on client meetings, status agendas, and follow-up correspondence, acting as the strategic lead for your assigned business.
  • Team Development: Mentor and oversee the workflow of Assistant Media Strategists and Media Strategists to ensure professional growth and high-quality deliverables.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Manage creative grids and media specifications, ensuring account and creative teams have the technical details needed for successful launches.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Expert Platform Knowledge: Proven experience building and optimizing within platforms like Meta (Facebook/Instagram), The Trade Desk, and Google Ads.
  • Traditional Media Openness: Experience (or a strong willingness to learn) across Linear TV, OOH, and Print.
  • Certifications: Ability to obtain certifications in The Trade Desk, Facebook, and Google within the first year of employment.
