The main difference between Senior Manufacturing Accounting and Manufacturing Accountant lies in experience and responsibilities. Senior Manufacturing Accountants typically handle complex financial analysis and oversee accounting processes, while Manufacturing Accountants focus on routine transaction processing and reconciliations. Both roles are essential in manufacturing finance but differ in scope and seniority.

Can you make $100,000 as an accountant?

Senior manufacturing accountants can earn $100,000 or more annually, especially with experience, certifications like CPA, and working in large companies or high-cost-of-living areas. Entry-level or less experienced accountants typically earn less, but salaries increase with specialization and responsibility.

What is the highest paid job in accounting?

In accounting, the highest paid roles are typically Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and senior executive positions, which require extensive experience, strategic skills, and often certifications like CPA or CMA. These roles oversee financial operations, set company financial strategies, and can earn high six- or seven-figure salaries depending on the industry and company size.

Can you make $500,000 a year as an accountant?

Senior manufacturing accountants typically earn between $70,000 and $120,000 annually, with higher salaries possible for those in executive or specialized roles. Reaching $500,000 a year is uncommon and usually requires advanced positions such as CFO or executive-level roles, significant experience, or ownership in a successful company. Certifications like CPA or CMA and strong industry knowledge can help increase earning potential but are unlikely to reach that level solely as an accountant.

Can I make 150k as an accountant?

Senior manufacturing accountants with extensive experience, specialized skills, and certifications such as CPA can potentially earn salaries around or above $150,000 annually, especially in large companies or high-cost-of-living areas. Salary levels depend on factors like industry, location, and individual expertise, with senior roles typically offering higher compensation. Entry-level or mid-level accountants usually earn less than this amount.

Senior Accountant - Aerospace Manufacturing
New Britain, CT (Full-Time Onsite) $80k - $110k
We are a fast-growing aerospace manufacturing company seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in New Britain, CT. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with broad exposure across accounting, manufacturing operations, and financial reporting.
This role is a strong fit for candidates with backgrounds in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or plant accounting and involves ownership of the monthly close process, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance support within a manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger (GL) review, account reconciliations, payroll accounting, and variance analysis
  • Own monthly financial reporting and management reporting to support business performance, operational decision-making, and financial analysis
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Perform cost accounting support activities, including inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing financial reporting
  • Manage inventory cycle count program, including coordination, reconciliation of variances, and investigation of discrepancies
  • Track capital projects (Capex) from purchase order through capitalization and maintain fixed asset accounting records
  • Partner with operations, production, and supply chain teams to improve financial accuracy, inventory visibility, and cost control
  • Assist with internal and external audits, internal controls, and compliance activities
  • Serve as backup support for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
  • Support process improvement, continuous improvement initiatives, and ERP system enhancements

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close
  • Cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or plant accounting experience strongly preferred
  • ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative, cross-functional mindset
  • Experience with process improvement and operational finance support

Why Join Us
  • Broad exposure across accounting, finance, and manufacturing operations-not limited to a single function
  • Direct visibility with leadership and involvement in real business decisions
  • Opportunity to improve financial processes, reporting, and manufacturing cost visibility
  • Supportive, collaborative team culture where people help each other succeed
  • Structured month-end close process with realistic expectations that support work-life balance
  • Room to grow into additional responsibilities over time, while also supporting those who prefer to remain in a hands-on senior accounting role
  • Competitive compensation and benefits

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical insurance plans including dental and vision
  • Company paid insurance packages: life insurance, short-term disability, and long term disability
  • 401k and HRA Funding
  • Company paid apparel with dry cleaning
  • Safety shoe vouchers
  • Paid time off, paid holidays and paid floating holidays to accommodate our diverse work environment
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Continued education and professional development
  • Company paid job training
  • Family leave
  • Employee discounts
  • On-site Micro Market
  • Company family picnic and holiday parties
