Human Resources Services (HRS) is an internal function providing global operations and business support across Brookfield's lines of business.
Position Summary
The Senior Benefits & Leave Administrator supports U.S. benefits administration across Brookfield business segments, with primary responsibility for leave of absence support and employee inquiries. This role serves as a subject matter expert for day-to-day benefits support while also contributing across broader Benefits programs, including health and welfare and retirement plans.
Working closely with employees, HR, managers, executives, payroll, HRIS, and external vendors, this role helps ensure leave and benefits programs are administered accurately, consistently, and in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, articulate, analytical, client-service oriented, and experienced managing complex leave matters across multiple states.
Responsibilities
  • Support strategic initiatives and administrative processes related to U.S. benefits across Brookfield business segments.
  • Serve as a team liaison for Benefits tasks and projects, with a primary day-to-day focus on leave of absence administration while supporting all Benefits areas.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Brookfield U.S. benefits plans and vendors, including health and welfare, leave of absence, and retirement plans.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and provide day-to-day administrative support on all aspects of leave, including but not limited to STD, LTD, ADA, FMLA, Paid Parental Leave, Military Leave, Jury Duty, Medical Leave, and other applicable leave types.
  • Partner closely with the third-party leave administrator to support routine and complex leave cases and ensure consistent application of company policy and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws across multiple states.
  • Research and resolve complex employee benefit and leave issues, develop effective solutions, and communicate directly with employees regarding available options.
  • Respond to employee, manager, and HR inquiries related to leave of absence, benefits impacts, eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work processes.
  • Draft employee-facing communications and training that clearly outline Brookfield benefits policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure policy and plan changes are implemented, required documentation is updated, and necessary amendments and plan documents are maintained.
  • Support leave management reporting by leveraging multiple systems to prepare metrics and measurement reports for the Benefits team and leadership.
  • In partnership with the HRIS team, perform testing, analytics, and system audits related to Workday functionality and Benefits initiatives.
  • Gather and interpret data to deliver actionable insights while considering a broad range of interdependent issues.
  • Assist in developing and updating processes, procedures, and form templates as needed.
  • Act as a change agent to drive continuous process improvement as business needs evolve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Post-secondary education; University or College graduate required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Benefits and Leave of Absence administration.
  • Subject matter expertise across a variety of leave categories and related employee support practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws, including administration across multiple states.
  • Experience supporting employees at various levels of the organization, including managers and executives.
  • Client-service oriented with a strong focus on responsiveness, empathy, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently problem solve and exercise sound judgment; escalating as needed.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, proactively communicating and patterning with others.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the initiative and ownership to drive issues through resolution.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including pivot tables and lookups.
  • Extensive experience working with HR systems; Workday experience is an asset.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000
Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
