Senior Energy Consultant

Location: Remote - Preferred locations include Central/Eastern Pennsylvania, Columbus/Central Ohio, Pittsburgh Region, Northeast Ohio, or Chicago Area.

About the Role

World Fuel is seeking a Senior Energy Consultant to help commercial, industrial, municipal, healthcare, education, and nonprofit organizations navigate complex energy procurement decisions.

This role combines consultative sales, account management, and energy advisory services. The successful candidate will build long-term client relationships, support electricity and natural gas procurement strategies, identify cost-saving opportunities, and help clients better understand changing energy markets.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused professional who enjoys developing business through networking, referrals, chambers of commerce, associations, and strategic partnerships. While energy market experience is highly valued, we are also interested in strong consultative sales professionals who can quickly learn the energy brokerage and procurement business.

You will join one of the largest energy brokerage and consulting teams in the PJM market, supporting clients throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and surrounding deregulated energy markets.

What You'll Do:Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to commercial and industrial energy customers.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services.
  • Manage client accounts through the full lifecycle, including contract renewals, procurement planning, and ongoing strategic discussions.
  • Conduct client reviews and communicate changing market conditions, pricing trends, and regulatory developments.
Energy Procurement & Consulting
  • Advise clients on electricity and natural gas procurement strategies.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals and procurement options to help clients make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Support and manage competitive RFP processes for power and natural gas supply agreements.
  • Educate clients on market drivers, capacity costs, transmission charges, and pricing risks.
  • Assist customers with energy management initiatives, conservation efforts, demand response participation, curtailment programs, and other cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal experts to deliver sophisticated energy risk management solutions.
Business Development
  • Generate new business opportunities through referrals, existing client relationships, chambers of commerce, industry associations, affinity partners, networking, and community engagement.
  • Develop trusted relationships with business leaders and organizational partners within target markets.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and expand World Kinect's market presence.
  • Present energy solutions and procurement strategies to prospective clients and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in consultative sales, business development, account management, client advisory services, financial services, insurance brokerage, energy sales, energy consulting, or a related customer-facing profession.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term professional relationships.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex information to business decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally for client meetings, networking events, chamber activities, industry conferences, and partner engagements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in energy consulting, energy procurement, energy brokerage, utility services, or deregulated energy markets.
  • Knowledge of PJM electricity markets.
  • Experience advising commercial or industrial customers.
  • Familiarity with electricity supply procurement, natural gas procurement, or energy risk management.
  • Experience working with chambers of commerce, trade associations, economic development organizations, or professional networking groups.
  • Existing business relationships within Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, or other PJM markets.
  • Experience in financial advisory services, insurance brokerage, business consulting, or relationship-based sales organizations.
Equivalent Experience Considered

Travel Requirements
  • Primarily remote position.
  • Local and regional travel will vary based on territory and client assignments.
  • Travel may range from approximately 10% to 50%, including client meetings, chamber and association events, networking opportunities, and company conferences.
  • Limited overnight travel required.
