JOB SUMMARY: The position objective is to sell, distribute, and market bulk petroleum and related products in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. The overall responsibilities include sales, service, safety, sales reporting, and other duties as assigned by your manager. This position will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability and willingness to sell petroleum services to customers,
  2. Good working knowledge of bulk petroleum and related products offered by Mid Kansas Coop.
  3. Good working knowledge of agronomy products.
  4. Good general knowledge of grain contracting products and procedures.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate in person to groups of people or to individuals, along with strong written communication skills.
  6. Ability to plan and coordinate meetings and events.
  7. Organization and Analytical skills.
  8. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  9. Computer and data entry skills.
  10. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  11. Ability to handle emotional customers and resolve complaints.
  12. Completes special projects as assigned by the Petroleum Department Manager.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate clothing required when handling chemicals and hazardous materials.


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor's degree from a four year university or college and four years experience in petroleum sales or related agricultural sales.


Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Increase our market share of bulk petroleum and related products in assigned territory.
  2. Maintain current customer base by ensuring delivery schedules to customers are conducted in a manner which increases customer satisfaction and customers are not lost due to careless performance.
  3. Establish monthly sales goals, yearly sales goals, and gross margin goals for yourself and a marketing plan that is designed to meet the goals and objectives of your manager and personal goals set by your manager by March 1 on an annual basis.
  4. Submit and review sales call report with your manager on a weekly basis, submit a sales call recap report to your manager on a monthly basis, and review sales goals annually with your manager.
  5. Develop target list of customers and make sales calls on all targeted potential customers in the trade area. Continually review opportunities for customer growth with your manager.
  6. Make proper recommendations and applications of products sold. Ensure no product problems result from your recommendations or installation of equipment. Clear all bids with your manager.
  7. Provide your manager with periodic reports of current competitor's strategies and develop plans to counteract competition.
  8. Be informed at all times of the cooperative's prices on products and services and review with your manager every week.
  9. Provide excellent customer service that exceeds customer expectations by creating a customer data base, making recommendations to customers to size storage systems for more efficient deliveries, sending samples to testing lab within 24 hours, responding to customer's emergency calls the same day they are received, and resolve customer complaints within 10 days.
  10. Coordinate installation of equipment within 2 weeks of the sale.
  11. Implement Best Management Practices whenever consulting with the customers.
  12. Maintain knowledge of government regulations that affect your position.
  13. Maintain a positive attitude that promoted team work and a favorable image of Mid Kansas Coop.
  14. Work directly with Location Managers assigned to your locations.
  15. Invoice all product deliveries promptly and accurately ensuring all sales tickets and cash receipts are turned in to the office daily and the customer gets a receipt.
  16. Assist in taking and recording inventories of bulk fuel plants as requested.
  17. Complete all reports required by your manager in a timely manner.
  18. Regularly wash and follow maintenance procedures outlined in the owner's manual for any company equipment you are using.
  19. Follow and support the safety policies of Mid Kansas Coop. Report to your manager any unsafe equipment or working conditions immediately,

20. Enforce the credit policy of Mid Kansas Coop by making credit terms known to customers, not charging to customers on COD, not extending credit to customers not approved by the credit department, not authorizing customer charges that exceed set credit limits, and keeping your personal account current.

21. Uphold the policies of the cooperative.

22. Attend all product updates and training classes assigned by your manager.

23. Complete special projects assigned by your manager.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in hot and cold weather.
