Job description

The Role
You are an experienced digital designer with exceptional visual craft, a sharp eye for detail, and a deep understanding of digital experiences. You thrive at the intersection of brand and product-bringing ideas to life through thoughtful, beautifully executed design.
You're equally comfortable thinking conceptually and designing at the highest level of fidelity. You know how to take an established brand and design system and evolve it into fresh, engaging experiences across web, product, and interactive touchpoints. You understand that great digital design isn't just about aesthetics-it's about creating experiences that feel intuitive, dynamic, and unmistakably on-brand.
Working as part of a dedicated team supporting a category-leading AI brand, you'll help evolve and extend a world-class design system across a wide range of digital experiences seen by millions of people around the globe.
Your Responsibilities
  1. You create exceptional digital design

You design beautiful, thoughtful digital experiences with a strong focus on visual design and UI craft. You understand how typography, color, layout, motion, and interaction work together to create compelling experiences that feel both distinctive and intuitive.
  1. You think conceptually and execute with precision

You contribute to creative concepts and help translate strategic thinking into digital experiences. You can move fluidly between big-picture thinking and meticulous execution, delivering work that is both imaginative and highly resolved.
  1. You evolve and extend design systems

You know how to work within established brand and design systems while finding opportunities to push them forward. You can translate existing visual languages into new web pages, campaigns, and experiences that feel fresh and dynamic while maintaining consistency.
  1. You craft work at the highest level of quality

You produce polished, presentation-ready designs that are suitable for client review and development handoff. You care deeply about the details and take pride in delivering work that is pixel-perfect and thoughtfully considered.
  1. You bring systems thinking to digital design

You are fluent in Figma and comfortable working with complex component libraries and design systems. You think beyond individual screens, designing scalable solutions that can grow and evolve across multiple touchpoints.
  1. You contribute to storytelling and presentations

You help shape compelling creative narratives and communicate design decisions clearly. You're comfortable presenting your work, discussing your thinking, and incorporating feedback from clients and colleagues.
  1. You embrace emerging technology

You are curious about new creative tools and technologies, including AI. You understand how generative tools can support creative exploration and accelerate workflows while maintaining a high standard of craft and originality.
  1. You elevate the team around you

You collaborate closely with fellow designers, creative leads, and adjacent creative partners-sharing ideas, offering feedback, and helping raise the overall quality of the work.
What We're Looking For
  1. Significant experience designing digital products, websites, and interactive experiences
  2. Exceptional visual design and UI skills
  3. Strong conceptual thinking combined with outstanding executional craft
  4. Deep understanding of typography, color, layout, and digital design systems
  5. Expertise in Figma and component-based design workflows
  6. Experience translating established brand systems into engaging digital experiences
  7. Ability to create highly polished work suitable for both client presentation and development handoff
  8. Strong understanding of responsive design and modern digital experiences
  9. Motion storyboarding experience and understanding of interaction design principles
  10. Prototyping skills are a plus
  11. Experience using AI tools, including prompting for generative image and video creation, is a plus
Our Responsibilities
  1. We will ensure you have meaningful and regular access to your manager to support your personal development and career trajectory.
  2. We will actively reward performance with promotions, pay increases, and a discretionary annual bonus of up to 10% of salary to all employees.
  3. We ensure Koto is an equal environment for all its employees.
  4. We will support you in taking family leave and offer significant paid maternity and paternity leave.
  5. We will actively encourage you to take 25 days of holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays and a studio closure between Christmas and New Year.
  6. We offer YCN access and fund relevant training opportunities for any employee looking to develop themselves and their career.
  7. We reward five years of service with $5,000 and five days' holiday. We reward ten years of service with $10,000 and four weeks' holiday.
  8. We will give you the opportunity to work from any of the five Koto studios globally, with appropriate planning and application.
Our Culture
  • At Koto, we encourage our team to be 'rationally optimistic' about the potential of our work, our clients, their businesses, and the power of brand.
  • We pursue the best briefs, want to inspire meaningful work, and, for those interested, provide an opportunity to make the work of their lives. We are actively cultivating leadership, culture, and spaces to encourage this.
  • We work in person, with an optional WFH day on Friday and an additional 20 remote days per year. We believe this produces the best work, mentoring opportunities, collective learning, and culture.
  • We encourage autonomy in each member of our team, allowing them to manage their own time, hours, and personal commitments appropriately to complete work.
