Job description

SENIOR COMMISSIONS ACCOUNTANT

Salt Lake City, Utah · Full-time · Hybrid (M/W on site, plus close) · Finance

A profitable, high-growth SaaS company is hiring a Senior Commissions Accountant to help rebuild and own its commissions accounting function. Sales is the engine of this business, and commissions accounting sits at the center of it — so this is a high-visibility seat with a very clear runway. You'll partner directly with senior FP&A leaders, help rebuild the ASC 340-40 process and SOX framework to IPO-ready standards, and have real room to make the function your own and grow your career fast.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Own commissions accrual and the capitalization and roll-off of commissions under ASC 340-40

- Handle external partner commissions end to end — accrue, capitalize, and roll off commissions paid to partners on their sales, and manage timely partner reporting and payment through the procure-to-pay process

- Report accurately to FP&A and clearly explain what's happening inside the commission plans and how they're accounted for

- Help rebuild the commissions process on the foundation already in progress, and rebuild the SOX compliance framework to IPO-ready standards

- Manage high-volume amortization in NetSuite ARM — roughly 1,500–3,000 schedules imported and rolled off monthly

- Work across 26 compensation plans covering 550+ commissionable employees (growing 15%) and 2,800 contracts a month

- Flex into ASC 606 subscription accounting and revenue recognition during lighter close periods

- Mentor two junior accountants (the team runs like an audit group — a few staff, several seniors)

WHAT YOU BRING

- Public accounting experience, ideally Big 4 — a strong-performing senior ready for the next step is the sweet spot

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

- Working knowledge of ASC 340-40 (commissions capitalization); bonus if you've built or rebuilt the process

- Commissions or revenue accounting experience and comfort with complex, high-volume comp plans

- Hands-on with NetSuite (ARM a plus), Excel, and commission tools such as Performio

- Strong analytical skills, close attention to detail, and clear communication across teams

- CPA is a strong plus, not required. The 3–5 year range is a guide, not a hard cutoff — the right experience matters more

WHERE THIS ROLE CAN TAKE YOU

- Direct, senior-level exposure to FP&A — a natural path into FP&A if that's a direction you want

- Hands-on ASC 606 and revenue recognition work that builds toward accounting leadership

- Order-to-cash and procure-to-pay experience that opens doors to GL/corporate accounting and controllership tracks

- A team that promotes from within and actively moves people up

- A rare "rebuild it and own it" opportunity — reshape the commissions function and establish yourself quickly

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

- Hybrid in Salt Lake City — two days on site (Monday/Wednesday), plus close weeks

- A profitable, high-margin SaaS business operating at IPO-ready standards

- A supportive, low-ego culture that values ownership, kindness, thoughtfulness, and work-life balance

- Comprehensive benefits, wellness and mental health support, and learning and development support including tuition reimbursement

- An ownership program so full-time employees share in the company's success
