Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Engineer II - Applications opening based in Austin, TX or Chandler, AZ. The successful candidate will provide technical support for Microchip's Ethernet PHY and switch product lines. The Applications Engineer will drive customer success using Microchip products in the following areas:
  • Answering questions from Field Sales engineers and customers during the development process.
  • Creating collateral that improves the user experience for the user. This includes:
    • Application Notes
    • Knowledgebase Articles
    • Users Guides
    • Example Code
  • Identifying gaps in the current enablement material, and proactively setting goals to address the gaps observed while supporting customers.
  • Creating high level requirements to the development teams that can improve the customer experience with new product development.
  • Develop and present technical training such as webinars and hands-on workshops to customers, sales and field application engineers

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields with least 7.5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of various programming languages, including C, C++, Python and other embedded languages.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and the building process.
  • Strong experience in customer support and customer enablement.
  • Experience in technical training development and presentation.
  • Knowledge of embedded processor development flow and ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet communication protocols, including TCP/IP and UDP
  • Knowledge of networking and network management concepts and applications.
  • Working knowledge of hardware/software debug and Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)
