About the Role
The Application Engineer I is an entry-level, customer-facing technical role responsible for supporting the successful adoption and application of PC-DMIS software in real-world production environments. This position partners closely with customers and internal teams to deliver application support, classroom-style training, and hands-on troubleshooting assistance.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, solving practical technical challenges, and building confidence in advanced manufacturing software tools.
Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer-facing application engineering support with a strong focus on PC-DMIS software
  • Conduct small group training sessions in classroom-style environments
  • Travel to customer sites and office locations to provide hands-on technical instruction and support
  • Troubleshoot technical and application-related issues and guide customers through practical solutions
  • Support software implementation and application optimization in production environments
  • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, service, and technical support to ensure alignment and customer success
  • Represent Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence professionally in all customer interactions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of training materials and best practices
Qualifications
  • 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience, including internships
  • Ability to teach and present in small classroom-style settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and practical problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a customer-facing role
  • Ability to travel up to 70%, primarily within the Southwest region, with occasional travel to other locations
  • Ability to work on-site in Chandler, Arizona
Preferred
  • Shop or manufacturing floor experience
  • Hands-on experience using PC-DMIS software
  • Engineering degree or related technical education
  • Familiarity with metrology, CMM operation, or quality inspection processes
Work Environment
This role is performed primarily in office, classroom, and customer production environments.
  • Frequent travel (up to 70%) to customer sites
  • Regular interaction within manufacturing and shop floor environments
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement between equipment and work areas
  • Manual dexterity required for computer use and operating technical equipment
  • Occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds
  • Exposure to moderate factory noise levels during customer visits
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required at customer sites
  • Frequent communication with customers and internal team members
