Operating Room Unit Secretary
Second shift (1430-2000); Monday -Friday
Surgical Services I Lexington, KY
Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.
Description:
  • Answers telephone in a timely manner using proper etiquette.
  • Greets and assists visitors, patients, staff, physicians, and others at unit desk.
  • Answers inquiries and/or refers to appropriate resources.
  • Communicates effectively with other departments.
  • Relays messages promptly.
  • Works cooperatively with other services.
  • Maintains patient and organizational confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
  • Safety transfer and transports patients within the hospital.
  • Performs errands and other clerical/clinical duties as directed.
  • Safely transports specimens to laboratory.
  • Obtains items needed from tube system, pharmacy, etc. when necessary.
  • Records name of patient and attending physician on PACU log.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer skills.
  • Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology.
