What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Scrum Master, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Scrum Master, you need a solid understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and often a relevant certification such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM). Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Trello, or Azure DevOps is typically required. Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills help Scrum Masters guide teams and foster collaboration. These skills and qualities are crucial for enabling high-performing teams, ensuring effective delivery, and continuously improving processes within Agile environments.

Job description

About the Role
We are seeking an Agile Delivery & Transformation Lead to join our consulting practice and help clients build enduring Agile capabilities while driving large-scale enterprise platform programs. This role blends agile transformation advisory, coaching client organizations on operating model design, agile maturity, and scaled ways of working, with hands-on delivery leadership. You'll act as a trusted advisor shaping how a client organization works, and a delivery leader ensuring the work is done according to best practices. This is a high-visibility role for someone who has participated in agile transformations and can also personally lead the delivery of large-scale value streams.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Transformation Advisory

  • Assess client Agile maturity and design target operating models, team topologies, and governance structures for Agile delivery
  • Advise client leadership on organizational design choices needed to sustain Agile ways of working: roles, funding models, portfolio governance, and metrics
  • Design and lead Agile capability-building programs: training, coaching plans, communities of practice, and maturity assessments
  • Build the case for change with client executives, using data and delivery outcomes to demonstrate the value of transformation investments
  • Support broader change management efforts tied to the transformation (stakeholder alignment, communications, adoption tracking)
Program / Value Stream Delivery Leadership

  • Stand up and run Agile Release Trains for enterprise programs, coordinating multiple Agile teams to ensure alignment, dependency management, and synchronized delivery
  • Facilitate PI Planning, ART syncs, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt sessions
  • Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, and Technical Leads to manage the program backlog, resolve cross-team dependencies, and de-risk delivery
  • Establish and report ART-level metrics (velocity, predictability, flow, quality) to client leadership
  • Surface, escalate, and drive resolution of program-level risks and impediments
Required Qualifications
  • 3–7 years of experience spanning Agile coaching/transformation and program or release management (e.g., RTE, senior Scrum Master, Agile program lead) within technology delivery or consulting environments
  • Experience on large-scale implementations of SAP, Salesforce, or similar enterprise platforms
  • Demonstrated experience participating in or leading Agile transformation initiatives
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior client leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAFe certification (SPC, RTE, etc.) or similar
  • Experience with Agile delivery management tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, ServiceNow)
  • Exposure to multiple enterprise platforms across industries (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce Sales/Service Cloud)
Growth path

This role is a fast track to Organizational Strategy and Transformation Leadership: you’ll receive mentorship, milestone‑based progression, and a professional development budget to pursue certifications and advanced training. We offer a competitive compensation package including market‑leading base salary and performance bonuses, and a full benefits suite covering medical, dental, vision, retirement match, generous PTO, and parental leave.

The role is based in Indianapolis, IN with hybrid work options and expectations for domestic and international travel.
