Forklift Operator
United Facilities, Inc., is one of the nation's premier third-party logistics companies. We provide distribution and packaging services for Fortune 100 companies.
What you will do:
  • Material Handling: Load/unload trailers, determine placement of product in designated area. Positions lifting device under/around pallets, skids, boxes. Moves levers, press pedals to drive truck and raising/lowering to control movement of lifting apparatus. Read work orders, and follow oral instructions. Review customer orders and determine product location. Attach identifying tag/labels to materials. Count & record number of material units. Complete daily job card to accurately record job codes, order numbers, and timekeeping. Load material, install strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Load/unload materials on/from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Operate handheld scanners (RF equipment), computer systems (WMS), and manually input additional data. Replace propane tanks, recharge/replace batteries by using battery crane.
  • Communication: Communicate internally with warehouse, office, and management, regarding observations such as product damage, food safety concerns, and housekeeping concerns. Maintain self-composure in stressful circumstances.
  • Safety & Compliance: Complete daily forklift inspection sheets, follow general safety practices including proper use of PPE and timely reporting of accidents/safety concerns. Responsible for following food safety processes and ensure work areas are clean and free from hazards. Reporting any food safety issues to UF Management. Attend and engage in safety meetings and discussions.
What you will need:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience using a PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) preferred.
  • Preferences - 1 year forklift driving experience with clamp attachments.
  • Skills - ability to operate forklift, follow company protocols and Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to perform tasks with limited supervision. Communicate verbally and in writing. Pay attention to detail and count accurately.
  • Strict attendance guidelines must be followed.
  • Forklift, battery crane, electric pallet jack, golf cart, LXE, RF scan gun, inverter, telephone, two-way radio, flashlight, calculator, etc.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires lifting assistance.
