Job description

Job Title: Social Service Worker

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt 
Reports to: Administrative Assistant/Corps Officer

Schedule: TBD, PT up to 25 hours/week
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $17.00/hour

Closing Date: 7/15/26

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit – 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)

 

 

Scope of Position/Essential Functions:

  • Support all Social Service activities, which provide services, programs, and events that promote the Casper Salvation Army.
  • Maintain and implement TSA Family Social Services, case management.
  • Provide need assessments of clients.
  • Provide information and referrals to other agencies.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Family Services Department.
  • Recruit Volunteers.
  • Assist Corps Offices with Public awareness of all services, programs, and ministries of the Salvation Army Casper Corps.
  • Complete all paperwork related to Social Services.
  • Maintain all records and documents for Social Servies and each client served according to the TSA's reporting procedures and input the information accurately into database.
  • Assist with Food by Choice Panty program, Warehouse and Hope Center program and kitchen as directed by Corps Offices or Administrative assistant, and HR.
  • Respond to phone calls, regarding Social Services and screen clients coming into the Hope Center facility.
  • Assure safety protocols, and. upholding Protecting the Mission guidelines and procedures.
  • Follow and maintain all Salvation Army policies.
  • Assist with Christmas Social Service Program, Toy Drives, and distribution of toys during Christmas.
  • Coordinate seasonal assistance working with other departments/agencies, volunteers, and corporations.
    • During the Holiday season, the hours worked will increase to full-time hours, this will be from the beginning of November until the end of the calendar year. 
  • For Angel Tree, and gifts being prepared for holiday outreach program.

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in Social Services preferred.
  • Minimally 21 years old, aged with a valid Wyoming Driver’s License
  • Two years' successful work experience in a similar field of work.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

Musi displays the ability to be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure as a member of that team or independently with little or no supervision, meticulous, accurate and precise. Capable of handling and controlling multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrate leadership skills with a strong 'collaborator attitude." Capable of maintaining an elevated level of integrity. Able to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds. Working knowledge of Salvation Army Policies as well as compassionate understanding and adherence to The Salvation Army ministry and mission abilities required.

Software Related and Communication Skills:

Microsoft Office Programs to include Word and Excel and Outlook Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand and give verbal and written information and instructions.

Working knowledge of standard office equipment: Printer/scanner/fax machines and general office procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
