Our ideal Revenue Cycle Manager is an experienced healthcare revenue cycle professional who combines strong financial analysis skills with confident, approachable leadership. You understand physician revenue, know how to identify opportunities within the billing cycle, and can clearly explain billing processes and financial performance to physicians and other stakeholders.

You are comfortable managing and developing a team, solving complex revenue cycle challenges, and using data to guide decisions. Coding certification is helpful but is not required; proven revenue cycle knowledge, leadership ability, and physician revenue experience are the priorities for this position.

Job Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Manager will oversee physician revenue cycle and medical billing operations while providing leadership, financial analysis, and operational direction to the team. This position is responsible for helping ensure efficient billing processes, identifying opportunities to improve financial performance, and supporting consistent revenue cycle outcomes.

The Revenue Cycle Manager will also serve as an important point of communication between billing operations and physicians, helping explain billing procedures, processes, performance, and areas for improvement. The successful candidate will bring significant medical billing experience, hands-on physician revenue knowledge, and demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day physician revenue cycle and medical billing operations.
  • Lead, support, and develop team members while promoting accountability and strong performance.
  • Analyze financial and revenue cycle performance to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor billing processes and help drive efficient, accurate revenue cycle operations.
  • Communicate directly with physicians regarding billing processes, procedures, financial performance, and revenue cycle concerns.
  • Translate complex billing and revenue information into clear, actionable information for physicians and team members.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements that support stronger revenue performance.
  • Use financial analysis to support operational decisions and revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Partner with physicians and internal team members to address billing questions and process challenges.
  • Help establish and maintain effective revenue cycle workflows, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and guidance to the revenue cycle team.
  • Support the effective use of EHR and billing technology, with Athena EHR experience preferred.
Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of medical billing experience.
  • Physician revenue experience is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to evaluate revenue cycle performance.
  • Demonstrated people management and team leadership abilities.
  • Experience communicating directly with physicians regarding billing processes and revenue cycle matters.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing and physician revenue cycle operations.
  • Athena EHR experience is preferred.
  • Coding certification is helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
