Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Building Inspector specialized in Mechanical Commercial Inspections to perform virtual inspections for commercial construction projects. You will ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and other applicable standards, while delivering excellent customer service and technical expertise. This is a remote position with flexible scheduling and opportunities to help shape the future of building inspections.
Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Perform virtual commercial inspections and plan reviews in licensed discipline(s) (building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical), via video, photos, or digital submissions.
  • Identify defects, hazards, inconsistencies, or non-compliance issues in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Accurately document inspection findings using approved reporting systems and communication channels.
  • Communicate inspection results, required corrections, and professional recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Assists and advises internal team, contractors, building owners, of code violations and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to inspection team assistance to inspection personnel relating to field problems.
  • Participate in cross-training with other inspection staff to broaden knowledge enhance overall job performance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support throughout the inspection process
  • Maintain current knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and Florida Building Code.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have an active State of Florida Commercial Inspector License in Mechanical (MN).
  • Active State of Florida Commercial Inspector License in Building (BN), Electrical (EN), Plumbing (PN) a plus.
  • Active State of Florida Commercial Plan Review License in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Plumbing preferred
  • Active International Code Council Certification (ICC) preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years working in commercial inspection, construction, or plan review experience.
  • Must be able to accurately read and interpret all approved plans, revisions and required documentation for any assigned project.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and applicable jurisdictional requirements.
  • Experience with Virtual or remote inspections preferred.
  • Ability to accurately interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to meet inspection turnaround deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with internal teams.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote workspace.
  • Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, and continuous learning.
