Job description

Position Overview

The General Hope Counseling Center is in search of a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our compassionate team. In this full-time remote position, you will provide critical mental health services to individuals navigating the complexities of trauma recovery. Your expertise will specifically support those impacted by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders, allowing you to make a lasting difference in patients' lives.

About the Organization

General Hope Counseling Center is a telehealth provider deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for trauma survivors. We focus on delivering evidence-based mental health care interventions that empower individuals, fostering resilience and healing. Our organization values collaboration, continuing education, and a patient-centered approach, underscoring our mission to enhance mental wellness in the communities we serve, particularly from our remote location in Islip, New York.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home while reaching patients across various locations. The telehealth facility utilizes state-of-the-art video conferencing and electronic health record (EHR) systems to facilitate patient consultations and seamlessly document therapeutic interactions. Our team emphasizes flexibility, professionalism, and a supportive atmosphere for both staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments to evaluate patients’ history and identify tailored treatment approaches for recovery.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on building resilience and addressing the unique needs of trauma survivors.
  • Employ evidence-based therapeutic methods, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at processing trauma, developing coping strategies, and promoting emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, and other mental health professionals to ensure holistic and integrated care for all clients.
  • Offer crisis intervention support to patients experiencing trauma-related emergencies or acute stress responses.
  • Educate patients and their families on trauma responses and effective coping mechanisms, thus empowering them with knowledge and resources.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and confidential documentation to comply with legal and ethical standards and ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Engage in regular team meetings and case consultations to enhance collaborative treatment efforts and share best practices.
  • Stay informed on current research and innovative approaches in trauma therapy through ongoing professional development and training.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients who have experienced various forms of trauma, including emotional, physical, and psychological stressors. You will work with individuals undergoing challenges such as PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. The role requires a compassionate approach to help these clients navigate their healing journey while equipping them with the tools for a healthier future.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent in the state of New York.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, with a preference for trauma-focused care experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-related disorders and familiarity with trauma-informed treatment strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, showing a deep commitment to client-centered care and empathy.
  • Capacity to remain composed and effective in high-stress, crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team framework.
Preferred Experience

Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions will enhance your candidacy. Additionally, familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, including group therapy dynamics, will be advantageous. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable working independently while being part of a larger team, demonstrating both strong clinical judgment and adaptability.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary between $90,000 and $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare benefits, a retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions, ample paid time off (PTO), and professional liability insurance coverage. You will also have opportunities for continuing education and professional development tailored toward advancing your skills in trauma care.

Career Growth Opportunities

As a valued member of our team, you will have access to numerous career growth opportunities within our trauma-informed practice. We encourage ongoing education and certification, providing the means to specialize further or take on leadership roles in mental health. You will benefit from a culture that promotes professional development and lifelong learning.
