Key Responsibilities

In the role of Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and actively collaborate on treatment planning, including the development of pre-crisis and crisis intervention plans, behavioral guidelines, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all necessary documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based screening tools as directed by the clinical team to better inform treatment strategies.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement positive behavior support plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Participate actively in licensing and accreditation processes, ensuring our clinic meets all appropriate standards.
  • Serve as a key liaison to relevant service systems, state agencies, and community partners, facilitating effective communication to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with local, state, and federal organizations to bolster program visibility and identify potential partnerships or funding opportunities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through attendance at workshops, conferences, and task force meetings relevant to your area of expertise.
  • Embody and promote the clinic's mission, values, and principles in all interactions.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Director to meet organizational needs.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working with a diverse patient population that includes individuals facing mental health challenges, those recovering from substance use disorders, and persons with developmental disabilities and brain injuries. Your role will be crucial in guiding these individuals towards recovery, independence, and improved community integration.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Masterโ€™s Degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
  • An active, independent LMHC license issued by the state board of New Jersey.
  • Proven administrative skills to maintain clinical records and prepare corresponding reports accurately.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrating the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions rooted in clinical expertise.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience working in a community health clinic or similar setting is highly appreciated.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices and treatment modalities specific to mental health and substance use recovery.
  • Experience in completing clinical documentation compliant with state and federal regulations.
