Job description

Overview
The Security Operations Specialist administers, coordinates, and evaluates security programs that support the strategy, policies, and standards established for physical safety for all visitors, employees, or vendors to Home Office, to include the security of property and assets. Compiles data and analyzes results of audits, inspections, daily logs, and incident reports to assess security vulnerabilities, measure program effectiveness, and identify the need for additional resources. Assists with the development of training, education programs, and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is prepared for potential security issues, crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events. Monitors communication and stays informed about local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events. May coordinate or assist with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials. Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Greets and assist employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors at the Home Office lobby to ensure a professional, welcoming, and controlled entry experience during daily operations.
  • Manages visitor check-in, badging, and access authorization using visitor management and access control systems to ensure only authorized individuals enter the facility at all times.
  • Monitors building access points, badge activity, and entry behavior to prevent unauthorized access, tailgating, and policy violations throughout each shift.
  • Conducts routine walking patrols of the interior facility and exterior campus areas to identify safety hazards, security concerns, and irregular conditions on a continuous basis.
  • Responds to safety, medical, and security incidents to provide immediate assistance, stabilize situations, and coordinate with emergency services when required.
  • Interacts with employees at all levels, including executives and support staff to provide assistance, answer questions, and maintain a safe and supportive workplace environment throughout the day.
  • Documents incidents, observations, and daily activities in written reports and logs to ensure accurate records and timely communication of relevant information.
  • Identifies and reports unsafe conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to support risk reduction and maintain a safe operating environment.
  • Assists with emergency procedures including evacuations and movement of individuals to support life-safety operations during drills or real-world incidents.
  • Maintains professional appearance, conduct, and situational awareness while on post to represent the company and ensure consistent security presence during all assigned shifts.
  • Provides safety escorts to employees and visitors between the facility and parking areas to enhance personal safety during periods of limited visibility, inclement weather, or upon request.
  • Receives and manages deliveries and packages to the lobby area to ensure proper handling, accountability, and coordination with intended recipients as needed.
  • Assist with high-value or sensitive deliveries in designated receiving areas to support secure transfer and handling of company assets when required.
  • Provides basic first aid and life-saving assistance within the scope of training to support individuals experiencing medical emergencies until emergency services arrive.
  • Supports safety drills, training exercises, and preparedness activities to help maintain readiness and familiarity with emergency procedures as scheduled.
  • Assist with special events, visitor surges, or temporary operational needs to maintain orderly access, safety, and a positive experience during non-routines activities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Emergency Management, Risk Management, etc or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years successful experience in a customer-facing, security or safety roles, with preference for structured, professional environments.
  • Minimum of one (1) year successful experience operating security systems (CCTV, radios, telephone), including Identity Management Software.
  • Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic security, security principles, access control, visitor management, emergency response, and workplace safety.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills for professional interaction and documentation.
  • Attention to detail and observation skills to identify hazards and security concerns.
  • Ability to successfully apply de-escalation techniques and sound judgment in conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain situational awareness, remain calm under pressure, and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and sound judgement.
  • Physical ability to perform both stationary and active duties, including but not limited to, facility patrol and emergency assistance. The role includes a Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) to ensure candidates can safely and effectively perform essential job functions such as prolonged standing and walking, stair navigation, rapid incident response, and assisting individuals during emergencies. These physical requirements are directly tied to Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications (BFOQ) necessary for safe and effective job performance.

Base Pay range for this role is $34-$48 hourly. Your placement in the range is determined through interviews, a review of experience, knowledge, skills, balanced pay with other team members and alignment with geographic market data. Home office base pay ranges are based on the Denver market. We target most new hire offers toward the lower end of the listed range, but more demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills may result in a higher starting rate.
Beyond Base Pay: Home office positions are eligible for consideration for an annual bonus, based on total company performance. Amounts vary by role and are based on a percentage of eligible earnings for the fiscal year.
