What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Robotics Engineer specializing in Localization, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Robotics Engineer in Localization, you need a solid background in robotics, computer science, and mathematics, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in localization algorithms. Proficiency with tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) frameworks, and simulation environments such as Gazebo is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills are essential for collaborating effectively across distributed teams. These competencies ensure accurate robot navigation, successful project execution, and seamless remote teamwork in this technically demanding field.

What are Remote Robotics Engineer Localization jobs?

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization jobs involve developing and implementing algorithms and systems that enable robots to determine their position and orientation within an environment, all while working remotely. These engineers typically work on projects related to autonomous vehicles, drones, or industrial robots, focusing on technologies such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), GPS, and sensor fusion. Their responsibilities can include software development, simulation, data analysis, and integration of localization solutions into robotic platforms. The remote aspect allows these professionals to collaborate with teams and deploy code from anywhere, often using virtual environments and remote access to robotic systems.

What is the difference between Remote Robotics Engineer Localization vs Remote Robotics Technician?

AspectRemote Robotics Engineer LocalizationRemote Robotics Technician
CredentialsBachelor's or higher in Robotics, Engineering, or related fields; certifications like ROS or embedded systemsTechnical diploma or associate degree; certifications in robotics or automation
Work EnvironmentDesign, development, and testing of robotic systems remotely; collaboration with engineering teamsMaintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of robotic systems remotely or on-site
Industry UsageUsed in robotics development companies, research labs, and manufacturingCommon in manufacturing plants, automation services, and technical support

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization focuses on designing and developing robotic systems remotely, requiring advanced engineering skills. In contrast, Remote Robotics Technician handles installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, often with more hands-on tasks. Both roles are essential in the robotics industry but differ in responsibilities and required expertise.

How does a Remote Robotics Engineer specializing in Localization typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate robot navigation?

As a Remote Robotics Engineer focused on localization, you’ll frequently collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, and data scientists to integrate and refine localization algorithms. Communication often involves regular virtual meetings, code reviews, and collaborative troubleshooting sessions to align system updates and deployment strategies. You’ll also work closely with QA teams to validate performance in diverse environments and may contribute to documentation to facilitate seamless integration across the robotics platform. This cross-functional teamwork is essential to ensure that robots can accurately determine their position and navigate reliably in real-world scenarios.

Job Description:
Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented Language Expert (Brazilian Portuguese) to support the localization of our games, products, and services.
As the Language Expert, you will own the quality, consistency, and creative integrity of Brazilian Portuguese across player-facing experiences. You bring strong linguistic judgment, deep cultural awareness, and a passion for the craft of localization, ensuring our voice, tone, and intent resonate authentically with Brazilian Portuguese-speaking players.
In this role, you will serve as the primary owner for Brazilian Portuguese localization, reviewing and validating localized content to ensure it is accurate, culturally appropriate, and safe for release. This includes identifying and addressing potential historical, political, or social sensitivities relevant to Brazil. You are a trusted partner to global and regional stakeholders and are comfortable balancing creative ownership with autonomy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
You will also contribute to ongoing efforts to improve localization quality, workflows, and tooling, including participating in initiatives that explore new technologies and automation to support efficiency and scale.
Note: This is a temporary position for a 10-month period. This is a fully remote position within the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Own Brazilian Portuguese (ptBR) language decisions and ensure creative cohesion end-to-end.
  • Serve as the vision holder for in-game and out-of-game localized content, directing and reviewing assets to ensure a high-quality player experience.
  • Provide clear, professional linguistic feedback and recommendations to external vendors and internal localization partners to uphold Blizzard quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Localization team and cross-functional stakeholders on initiatives that improve player engagement, quality, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to defining the creative direction, terminology, and linguistic standards of localized products and services.
  • Coordinate with internal partners to ensure localization quality expectations are consistently met.
  • Identify, track, and address localization quality issues, including cultural, historical, political, or social sensitivities relevant to Brazil, working with vendors to resolve them through guidance and process improvements.
  • Participate in additional cross-functional projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional localization experience.
  • Excellent Brazilian Portuguese and English linguistic skills, with strong grammar and orthography expertise in Brazilian Portuguese.
  • Experience reviewing localized content and providing clear, professional linguistic feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of localization-specific and translation tools (e.g., memoQ, CAT tools).
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to work effectively in a multicultural team with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated interest in exploring and leveraging new technologies and solutions to improve localization workflows.

Bonus Points
  • Passion for video games, heroic fantasy, sci-fi worlds, or pop culture.
  • Experience working as a translator in the entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity with Blizzard Entertainment games.
  • Experience with game localization or game quality assurance.
  • Higher education in linguistics or a related language discipline.
