What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Robotics Engineer specializing in Localization, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Robotics Engineer in Localization, you need a solid background in robotics, computer science, and mathematics, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in localization algorithms. Proficiency with tools like ROS (Robot Operating System), SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) frameworks, and simulation environments such as Gazebo is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills are essential for collaborating effectively across distributed teams. These competencies ensure accurate robot navigation, successful project execution, and seamless remote teamwork in this technically demanding field.

How does a Remote Robotics Engineer specializing in Localization typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate robot navigation?

As a Remote Robotics Engineer focused on localization, you’ll frequently collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, and data scientists to integrate and refine localization algorithms. Communication often involves regular virtual meetings, code reviews, and collaborative troubleshooting sessions to align system updates and deployment strategies. You’ll also work closely with QA teams to validate performance in diverse environments and may contribute to documentation to facilitate seamless integration across the robotics platform. This cross-functional teamwork is essential to ensure that robots can accurately determine their position and navigate reliably in real-world scenarios.

What are Remote Robotics Engineer Localization jobs?

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization jobs involve developing and implementing algorithms and systems that enable robots to determine their position and orientation within an environment, all while working remotely. These engineers typically work on projects related to autonomous vehicles, drones, or industrial robots, focusing on technologies such as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), GPS, and sensor fusion. Their responsibilities can include software development, simulation, data analysis, and integration of localization solutions into robotic platforms. The remote aspect allows these professionals to collaborate with teams and deploy code from anywhere, often using virtual environments and remote access to robotic systems.

What is the difference between Remote Robotics Engineer Localization vs Remote Robotics Technician?

AspectRemote Robotics Engineer LocalizationRemote Robotics Technician
CredentialsBachelor's or higher in Robotics, Engineering, or related fields; certifications like ROS or embedded systemsTechnical diploma or associate degree; certifications in robotics or automation
Work EnvironmentDesign, development, and testing of robotic systems remotely; collaboration with engineering teamsMaintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of robotic systems remotely or on-site
Industry UsageUsed in robotics development companies, research labs, and manufacturingCommon in manufacturing plants, automation services, and technical support

Remote Robotics Engineer Localization focuses on designing and developing robotic systems remotely, requiring advanced engineering skills. In contrast, Remote Robotics Technician handles installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, often with more hands-on tasks. Both roles are essential in the robotics industry but differ in responsibilities and required expertise.

Job description

Overview

We're migrating an established ecommerce client from Mandrill to Maropost as part of a broader Shopify replatform. We have designers and strategy covered — the gap is a hands-on email developer who can take designs and turn them into production-ready, logic-driven templates inside Maropost.

You'll own the build-out of roughly 100 transactional and lifecycle marketing emails: Liquid-based templates, modular components, conditional logic for complex user segments, multi-country/multi-language support, and Shopify trigger integration. You'll also help audit and migrate existing Mandrill flows.

This is execution-focused work on a tight timeline (build complete before late-August UAT, September launch).

Responsibilities
  • Build and deploy ~100 transactional and lifecycle emails in Maropost — order confirmations, shipping notifications, refunds, cancellations, account updates, abandoned cart, welcome/onboarding, reorder flows, product review requests, and promotional campaigns
  • Develop a reusable, modular component library plus a global header/footer system aligned with the client's new design system
  • Implement Liquid-based dynamic templates with conditional logic for variables like customer type (e.g., preferred customer vs. unaffiliated buyer), autoship vs. non-autoship, affiliate flows, subscription lifecycle events, and lead routing
  • Configure multi-country and multi-language localization
  • Audit the client's existing Mandrill email inventory and migrate flows to Maropost (or support a hybrid approach if needed)
  • Wire up Shopify triggers to Maropost flows; validate end-to-end functionality alongside the broader platform migration
  • Coordinate with subscription tooling (Seal Subscriptions) for subscription-related email events
  • Support a dedicated QA phase covering business logic variability, localization, deliverability, and rendering across major clients and devices
  • Document templates, components, and conditional logic so the client's marketing team can maintain and extend the system post-launch
Requirements
  • 3+ years of hands-on email development experience with production builds inside an ESP
  • Direct Maropost experience strongly preferred. Will consider experienced developers from Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar platforms if you can ramp quickly
  • Prior experience executing an ESP migration, ideally Mandrill → another platform
  • Strong command of Liquid templating (or comparable ESP templating languages)
  • Expert-level HTML/CSS for email: tables, inline styles, MSO conditional comments, dark mode handling, and responsive techniques that survive Outlook
  • Experience integrating an ESP with Shopify (or comparable ecommerce platform), including event-triggered transactional flows
  • Comfort translating Figma designs into pixel-faithful production templates
  • High attention to detail around conditional logic, edge cases, and localization variants
  • Familiarity with email QA tooling (Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar)
Bonus Points For
  • Maropost certifications or shippable Maropost portfolio work
  • Subscription / autoship email flow experience (Seal Subscriptions, ReCharge, Skio, etc.)
  • Multi-language / multi-country email programs at scale
  • Deliverability fundamentals (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation, suppression management)
  • Working on migration timelines tied to a larger replatform launch
Engagement Details
  • Type: Contract, with potential to extend into post-launch optimization and remaining marketing campaigns
  • Duration: ~2 months of active build; target completion before late-August UAT for a September launch
  • Commitment: Full-time preferred; 30+ hours/week minimum
  • Location: Remote
