Commercial Construction Estimator

Remote | Full-Time | $100,000$110,000 per year


A growing commercial construction firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join its team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in commercial estimating who can review project documents, evaluate scopes of work, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and prepare accurate, competitive estimates.


Position Overview

The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed project estimates, analyzing construction documents, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and supporting pre-construction planning activities. This role works closely with leadership, project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to help ensure projects are set up for success from initial budgeting through project handoff.


This is a fully remote position open to candidates authorized to work in the United States.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects, including tenant improvements, remodels, and ground-up construction
  • Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements
  • Develop conceptual budgets and value engineering recommendations
  • Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships across multiple markets
  • Prepare project proposals and support pre-construction activities
  • Develop preliminary project schedules to support planning and handoff
  • Manage change order pricing and estimate revisions
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to support smooth project transitions
  • Maintain estimating databases, templates, and current pricing information
  • Participate in project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support company margin goals through accurate and complete estimating practices

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with a General Contractor
  • Experience estimating tenant improvements, remodels, and ground-up commercial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and project coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently in a remote work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
  • Experience in commercial spaces including: restaurant, retail, medical, office, or light industrial construction
  • Experience supporting multi-state commercial construction operations
  • Experience with conceptual estimating and pre-construction services
