Job Summary

As Real Estate Manager you will join our Business Development team! In this role, you will report to Director of Land Acquisition and play a critical role in converting early-stage site control into financeable, construction-ready assets. Reporting to Director of Land Management, this position owns and coordinates real property-related workstreams across the development lifecycle, proactively de-risking title, survey, access, and third-party property constraints that impact capital deployment, development schedules, and project valuation.

This role serves as the central point of accountability for real property readiness across a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects in multiple U.S. jurisdictions. The role partners closely with Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and external consultants to enable efficient execution, support investment and financing milestones, and improve predictability across the development pipeline. Join us to drive the right power forward and make clean energy the natural choice for all!

Key Responsibilities:

Real Property Readiness and Title

  • Own title, curative, survey, and site control activities required to deliver financeable, construction-ready assets across assigned projects and during the acquisition of new projects or assets.
  • Coordinate title commitments, ALTA NSPS surveys, legal descriptions, and curative actions in close collaboration with title companies, surveyors, and other third-party partners to ensure full alignment with project layouts, financing requirements, and development schedules.
  • Serve as the primary real property point of accountability for development readiness discussions.

Access, Third-Party Rights, and Agreements

  • Identify and resolve access constraints, crossings, easements, and third-party property rights that could impact development, construction execution, or viability of an acquired asset.
  • Partner with Legal and Engineering to prioritize, negotiate, and close required agreements in line with project milestones and risk profiles.
  • Work with Contour's BD and Legal teams and third parties to coordinate, negotiate, and obtain agreements to perfect real property deficiencies around mineral rights, access, water, and other.

Lease, Option, and Consultant Management

  • Oversee lease and option administration, including notice windows, amendments, estoppels, and recording logistics, ensuring seamless execution with no contractual or timing gaps.
  • Manage and direct external consultants to ensure clear ownership, efficient workflows, and scalable execution as the portfolio grows and as new assets are acquired.

Track and report on agreement needs including deliverables and payments.

Reporting, Cadence, and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Provide real-time visibility into real property readiness through clear reporting, tracking, and regular coordination forums.
  • Translate property status, risks, and trade-offs into actionable insights and recommendations for Business Development leadership and internal decision forums.

Qualifications and Skills:

Your profile is a natural match if you have:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Engineering, Law, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience:
  • 5-10 years of experience in real property, land, or development roles within renewable energy, infrastructure, or similar capital-intensive environments.
  • Proven experience managing title, survey, access, and site control workstreams through financing and construction readiness.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Legal, Engineering, Construction, and Finance teams.
  • Houston, TX is the preferred location; however, qualified candidates located elsewhere may be considered for remote work.
  • Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of real property fundamentals, including title, curative, surveys, easements, access rights, and third-party agreements.
  • Familiarity with ALTA NSPS survey standards and title commitments.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve real property risks that could impact development schedules or capital deployment.
  • Travel requirements: Occasional travel to project sites as required.

What drives your application forward:

  • Proven ability to own real property readiness and proactively resolve title, survey, access, and third-party constraints that impact development schedules and capital deployment.
  • Strong cross-functional judgment, with experience partnering effectively with Legal, Engineering, Construction, and Finance to advance projects through critical development milestones.
