Job description

What You Will Be Doing: Perform regular internal payroll audits to verify the accuracy of payroll data and adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and payroll tax regulations and ensure compliance. Research, understand, and interpret existing or revised tax codes, laws, or forms and suggest responses to changes in tax law, regulations, and guidelines. Continuously review payroll tax processes to identify opportunities for improvement and automation to ensure efficient and compliant tax handling. Assist in review, development and implementation of changes or new payroll policies and procedures leading to best practices and solutions. Coordinate the implementation of necessary changes with the internal HR technology team and external vendors. Collaborate with various internal stakeholders and departments on enterprise projects. Work with vendors to research and resolve complex tax issues or discrepancies. Offer guidance and direction on tax topics to the immediate team members or broader HR department. Assist with tax agency audits. Reconcile quarterly and annual tax filings, including W-2 data. Be responsible for reconciling various General Ledger accounts assigned to the Payroll team. What You Need To Succeed: 5+ years of experience in payroll processing and tax compliance. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations (Canadian payroll tax regulation knowledge is a plus). Bachelor's degree in HR, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Proficiency in using Workday as a payroll system (experience with other systems, such as ADP, Experian/CIC+ or similar platforms is a plus). Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and other formulas). Strong attention to detail; customer service, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-volume environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) are a plus.
