Responsibilities/Qualifications
The Merchandising Buyer will:
  • Develop assortment strategies to drive top line sales, strengthen profitable revenue and gross margin dollar growth.
  • Develop and implement seasonal and inline assortments, inclusive of promotional and merchandising strategies with cross functional partners and under the guidance of the category manager.
  • Build and invest in inline assortments that support the neighbor, store, and industry focus.
  • Perform financial analysis of performance of sales and margin by category, brand and store data. Weekly, monthly and YTD. Develop action plans as business trends evolve.
  • Communicate category and merchandise strategies and initiatives to the field and business partners in planning, allocation, marketing, finance, space planning, pricing and ecommerce,
  • Develop strong Pet Partner(vendor) relationships with the industry and private brand team to ensure timely planogram execution and promotional planning.
  • Negotiate all aspects of your categories with your internal and external partners annually and based on current needs that might arise throughout the year,

Pawsome Merchandising Buyer candidates will have:
  • Bachelors degree in related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in retail buying and or planning.
  • Excellent business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to think and act on results with a solution -orientated mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including project management, collaboration and meeting facilitation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to follow through and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS office, including Excel, Power Point and Teams, Outlook and CoPilot.
  • Ability to travel periodically for pet industry trade shows, pet partner design meetings, pet partner location visits, store visits and competitive retail reviews.
