Role: Freelance Pharma Agency Proofreader Location: Must be located in and authorized to work in the US (PST) Hybrid/On-site/Remote: Remote (Must be located in PST) Hourly Rate: $35-45/hour Responsibilities Execute precise proofreading against layout, manuscript, and client mark‐ups across a wide range of pharmaceutical promotional and educational materials (e.g., websites, ads, brochures, video scripts, emails).

Verify adherence to client‐specific style guides, AMA Manual of Style (current edition), and required regulatory guidelines (FDA, OPDP, etc.). Check for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, word usage, formatting consistency, and visual layout. Scrutinize all components of a piece for accuracy, including page numbers, table of contents, and cross‐references.

Conduct detailed fact‐checking against approved references, ISI data, and source documentation provided by the Medical/Regulatory team. Workflow & Collaboration Work efficiently under tight deadlines, managing multiple projects concurrently with exceptional attention to detail. Collaborate closely with editorial, creative, account, and regulatory teams to ensure all content is flawless and compliant before submission for final review.

Clearly and accurately annotate corrections and mark‐ups using standard proofreading symbols or digital markup tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat markup tools). Maintain a high level of accountability for the final quality and accuracy of all assigned jobs. Qualifications 3+ years of professional experience proofreading within a pharmaceutical or healthcare advertising agency.

Expert‐level proficiency in the latest edition of the AMA Manual of Style. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines relevant to pharmaceutical and medical device promotion (e.g., FDA requirements, fair balance). Demonstrated ability to proofread highly technical, scientific, and medical content with precision.

High proficiency with digital proofing and markup software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Veeva, or similar digital workflow platforms). Exceptional organizational skills, time management, and the ability to handle a high volume of work with speed and accuracy.
