We're looking for a temporary Learning & Development Specialist to jump in and help us deliver engaging, practical training experiences for staff and volunteers across AMC. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on facilitation and field engagement, you'll help lead trainings while also capturing what's happening across our Chapter Volunteer Communities today.

What you'll be doing at AMC
Facilitate engaging training experiences
  • Lead and co-facilitate pre-designed trainings for staff and volunteers, both virtually and in person
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and connection
  • Support a variety of training formats including workshops, discussions, and applied learning experiences

Document the current state of outdoor leadership training
  • Partner with Chapter Volunteer Communities to map how volunteers grow into leadership roles, capturing key experiences, supports, and transitions along the way.
  • Gather insights through conversations, observations, and existing materials
  • Help build a shared understanding of training & leader engagement practices across chapters

Track participation and support continuous improvement
  • Collect attendance, feedback, and engagement data from training sessions
  • Maintain organized records of training activity and outcomes

Be a connector across teams and communities
  • Build relationships with staff, volunteers, and chapter leaders
  • Respond to questions and support participants throughout the training experience
  • Contribute to a positive, people-centered learning culture across AMC

What AMC is looking for
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, training, outdoor recreation, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience facilitating training programs.
  • Confidence facilitating groups (virtually and in person), with a clear and engaging presence
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to listen, synthesize input, and communicate insights clearly
  • Experience collecting feedback or documenting processes is a plus
  • Comfort working with a wide range of people, including volunteers and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A genuine enthusiasm for outdoor experiences and AMC's mission

What AMC Can Offer You
Salary: $25/hour, 40 hours per week for contracted season.
We are committed to fair compensation practices, and we encourage qualified candidates to apply. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
