Job description

Summary: Overview: The Salesforce Technical Lead will report to the Senior Director, Product Development. This leadership position will serve as the primary technical authority for the Information Technology Salesforce instance, overseeing the entire software development lifecycle including, planning, design, development, testing, and ongoing support. They will lead a team of Salesforce professionals, guiding them towards delivering high-quality solutions aligned with organizational goals.

The Salesforce Technical Lead will bring a high level of expertise in the Salesforce platform and will focus on maximizing system efficiencies and better capitalizing on the features and benefits relative to the needs of various user groups. They will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to create and support simple, scalable, compliant, and more automated ASPCA mission-critical information and systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be a team player, and have a desire to support the ASPCA in achieving our mission of ending cruelty to animals.

In this position, you will never be bored. The ASPCA supports a broad portfolio of technologies to support a highly mobile and diverse staff. Maintaining a presence in multiple geographic locations, the team provides support (hands-on and remote) to over a dozen facilities and field operations, and over a thousand individual staff members.

Your work will be integral to the organization as you work cross-functionally to ensure ASPCA staff, partners and communities have the systems needed to work effectively and efficiently to improve animal welfare. IT ensures that all ASPCA staff, partners, and communities have the systems needed to work effectively and efficiently to improve animal welfare. The sub-teams within IT include Product, Data and Reporting Solutions, Operations and Information Security, Technical Support, Enterprise Architecture, and Business Operations. What You'll Do The Salesforce Technical Lead reports directly to the Senior Director, Product Development and has 3 direct reports.

Where and When You'll Work This remote-based position (which requires travel, as described below) is open to all eligible candidates based within the United States. Ability and willingness to travel up to 5% annually, as needed. What You'll Get Compensation Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role.

The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary ranges for this role are set forth below and may be modified in the future.

Lead and develop a team of Salesforce professionals including a Senior Salesforce Developer, Salesforce Developer, and Salesforce Administrator/Release Manager; imbue team with a good understanding of the ASPCA's mission, teams, and priorities Ensure the most significant efforts of the team are aligned to the most significant outcomes; continually assess and redirect team efforts for maximum impact Provide training and career growth opportunities that empower the team to lead projects and take on the day-to-day management of initiatives Oversee activities of the team and ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met Work with team members to identify professional opportunities for growth and provide necessary mentoring, coaching, and training; ensure effective cross-training and proactively look for and fill gaps in the team's skills Perform people management and support tasks for team, including approving timesheets and scheduling requests, regular 1-1 meetings, quarterly/semi-annual performance/development meetings, annual performance reviews and goal-setting tasks Appraise individual and team performance: provide feedback, remediation, and motivation Interview and assess candidates for open positions Technical Leadership & Product Development Serve as the primary technical authority for the Information Technology Salesforce instance initiatives, providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team, fostering best practices and code quality Lead and be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of custom and scalable Salesforce solutions Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Salesforce platform and products Oversee the creation and management of administration processes including workflows, validation rules, approval processes, assignment rules, processes, and flows Apply in-depth knowledge of the standard capabilities of Salesforce and successfully expand on those capabilities using custom code as needed and third-party integrations Oversee technical initiatives to produce highly optimized, well-architected and easy-to-maintain solutions Identify synergies and opportunities for optimization and templatization of code for larger impact across development efforts Advise on complex technical needs by identifying possible short-term and long-term solutions Oversee the CI/CD processes working closely with the Salesforce Administrator/Release Manager on consistent and repeatable pipeline management ensuring successful deployments using Gearset Strategy and Collaboration Collaborate with IT Product Managers to help develop business solutions and understand the business workflows Meet with clients to determine and document business, functional, technical requirements, and design deliverables Clearly communicate with team and where necessary to stakeholders the current state of a project, the benefits and risks to a solution's feasibility and functionality, and detailed level of effort estimates for proposed solutions Collaborate with Product Development and Product Management team members and other stakeholders to proactively identify new and creative opportunities to use Salesforce and make efficiencies with existing products Be the authority and champion of Salesforce to help identify when Salesforce would be the right application and empower end-users currently using Salesforce Assist in prioritization and ongoing roadmap of Salesforce initiatives, and collaborate across the organization on the creation, execution, and prioritization of configuration and customization requests that support business priorities Work closely with program and technology colleagues to understand the organization's strategy and implement scalable, modern, long-term solutions Data Management and Operations Oversee the development of reports, dashboards, workflows, and processes to continuously monitor data quality and integrity Conduct code reviews, enforce standards, optimize performance, and ensure adherence to security protocols.
