This is a remote online position. American Sign Language Instructors residingin any country are invited to apply.

We offer Middle School and High School American Sign Language Levels 1-6+, as well as tutoring, conversational,and test-preparationcourses.Ourcurriculum is ACTFL-aligned,and we aretextbook-free.


Rather than relying on traditional textbooks, we use ACTFL Can-Do Statements and real-world communication contexts to guide instruction.Our courses emphasize Project-Based Learning, meaningful communication, and authentic language use.We do not assess students throughtraditional assessments. Instead, instructorsfacilitateengaging learning experiencesusing a variety of digital tools and authentic resourcesand evaluate student growth through projects, participation, and performance-based assessments.
While we provide syllabiand some,instructional guidanceand resources,instructors are encouraged to bring creativity, professionalexpertise, and instructional flexibility to their lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner.

Responsibilities:


  • Teach engaging one-on-one online lessons using Microsoft Teams.
  • Create a supportive and personalized learning environment that promotes student engagement, confidence, and success.
  • Assign and providetimelyfeedback onclass performance,homeworkassignments,and projects.
  • Monitor student progress andmaintainaccurategrades and academic records.
  • Communicate professionally and proactively with students, families, and LanguageBird staff as needed.
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and respect in all interactions.
  • Participate in requiredtraining.

Requirements:

  • 1-2+ years of experience teaching American Sign Language (online and/or in a school setting).
  • Native-like proficiency in American Sign Language.
  • Bachelor'sdegreerequired.
  • Experience working with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and expectations.
  • Evening availability in U.S. time zones (PST preferred).
