PeaceHealth is seeking a Remote (must reside in OR, WA, or AK) Program Director Complex & Legacy Giving for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $102,096– $183,123. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Performs role central to advancing PeaceHealth Philanthropy's evolution into a high-performing, principal gift–centric enterprise—positioned to deliver transformational impact across our communities. Reporting to system philanthropy leadership, the director will lead the strategy, growth, and execution of a comprehensive complex and legacy giving program. This includes bequests, trusts, donor advised fund strategies, appreciated assets, and other sophisticated giving vehicles, aligned to PeaceHealth's system priorities and upcoming comprehensive campaigns.This role is critical to building a sustainable pipeline of future revenue, strengthening donor relationships, and positioning philanthropy as a strategic lever in advancing PeaceHealth's long-term growth strategies. The director will design and execute a system-wide strategy for complex and legacy giving, ensuring integration with frontline fundraising, campaign priorities, and donor engagement efforts. As PeaceHealth scales toward $50+ annual philanthropic performance, this role will help unlock principal gifts and long-term commitments that fuel innovation, access, and clinical excellence. The director will manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, partner closely with major gift officers and foundation leaders, and serve as a subject matter expert to elevate complex giving conversations across the system.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the design and implementation of a system-wide complex and legacy giving strategy aligned with PeaceHealth’s major gift model and campaign priorities
  • Builds a robust pipeline of deferred and complex gifts, supporting both immediate campaign needs and long-term sustainability
  • Proactively builds and stewards relationship with professional advisors, including financial planers, accountants, estate attorneys and wealth manager who serve high-net-worth individuals, positioning PeaceHealth as a trusted philanthropy partner.
  • Manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects capable of making complex, blended, or transformational gifts
  • Identifies, cultivates, and closes principal level bequests, charitable trusts, IRA/DAF strategies, and other tax-advantaged gifts
  • Collaborates with major gift officers to structure blended gift strategies that maximize both current and future impact
  • Ensures highly personalized, proactive stewardship approach for donors engaged in complex and legacy giving, demonstrating the impact of their generosity and strengthen long-term relationship and future commitments.
  • Serves as the system expert on complex and legacy giving, providing coaching, training, tools, and strategy support to frontline fundraisers to increase their knowledge and skillset
  • Supports donor conversations with a highly personalized, values-based approach, positioning donors as investors and insiders in advancing care
  • Partners across shared services—including Finance, Legal, Gift Administration, and Compliance—to ensure compliant, donor-centered execution
  • Works closely with Philanthropy Marketing/communications, serves as a subject matter expert to help inform and guide our messaging
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: Business or
  • Bachelor's Degree Required: Fundraising or related field and
  • Master's Degree Preferred: Business Administration or
  • Juris Doctorate Preferred:

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years Required: Progressively responsible experience in planned giving and complex gifts ideally in a mission driven healthcare environment and

Credentials

  • Preferred: within 2 years Certified Fund Raising Executive
  • Preferred: within 2 years Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy

Department / Location Specific Notes

Position is remote and can reside in anywhere in the PeaceHealth service area but must be willing to travel to meet with donors, foundations or any other business need that requires individual to be on site.
