Appcues

Remote

Full-time

Job description

Appcues is building the future of customer lifecycle engagement — and design is central to how we get there. As we scale toward enterprise-grade, AI-powered solutions, we’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to bring exceptional craft, taste, and judgment to the experiences our customers depend on every day.

In this role, you’ll take a well-established design vision and bring it to life — finalizing the details that separate good from great, making sharp trade-off calls when design ideals meet product realities, and adjusting on the fly as customer insights sharpen what we should ship. You’ll be our only designer, working across multiple product and engineering squads, so this role rewards someone with strong instincts, a high quality bar, and the judgment to know what matters when not everything can.

Why This Moment

Appcues is at a turning point. We’re relaunching the company around a new product, and we’re rebuilding from the inside out. That means the work is real, the pace is fast, and the impact you’ll have is outsized — the things you ship will shape what this company becomes.

We’re looking for someone who’s here to hustle. People who put in the time, take ownership, and care enough to push past “fine.” We work hard, we ship fast, and we make space to enjoy the ride together.

What You'll Do
  • Take a defined design direction and execute it with precision, finalizing the details that elevate a feature from functional to delightful

  • Make confident trade-off decisions where design ideals, product needs, technical constraints, and timelines collide — without losing the thread of what matters most

  • Adapt designs in real time as customer research, usage data, and prototype feedback reshape the problem

  • Use AI fluently across your workflow — for research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and compressing the path from idea to artifact

  • Own the end-to-end design of meaningful features and flows, from problem framing through high-fidelity execution and post-launch refinement

  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering across multiple squads, fluidly context-switching without losing quality or momentum

  • Apply and extend our design system thoughtfully, contributing patterns back as you go

  • Raise the quality bar through strong critique, generous collaboration, and consistent craft

What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years of product design experience, ideally with B2B SaaS, platforms, or complex products

  • A portfolio that demonstrates great taste — clear visual judgment, strong information hierarchy, and care for the details

  • Uses AI as part of your day-to-day design practice — come ready to show concrete examples of how AI tools have changed how you research, ideate, prototype, or ship

  • Strong instincts for design vs. product trade-offs, with a track record of shipping high-quality work on real timelines

  • Thrives as a solo designer in a fast-paced environment — self-directed, decisive, and able to hold quality high while working across multiple squads at once

  • Fluent in customer research and product data, with the judgment to know when to lean in and when to ship

Note - Appcues uses a market-data driven approach to setting compensation ranges, and pins compensation ranges to data provided by third-party organizations. This range is for all US-based candidates and is built to be competitive nationwide by utilizing ranges for the Greater Boston area, regardless of where in the US an employee lives (or later relocates). This range represents salary-based compensation and does not include our equity package (in stock options), 401k match, or other benefits including an office setup budget, tech budget, training and education budget, and co-working space reimbursements. Actual compensation offered to a successful applicant may be based on job-related experience and other factors consistent with applicable law. For non-US based candidates, Appcues adjusts salary ranges based on cost of labor in each market. If you have questions on the pay range in your country, the recruiter will be happy to discuss specifics during your introductory conversation."

Our Benefits

100% remote - We don’t have an office so all of our employees learn and collaborate in the same way using remote work practices. We work in Slack, Zoom, and a collection of modern collaboration tools. We have inclusive remote events and we get together annually for a fun off-site retreat.
Well-being - You'll have solid health, dental, and vision plans; access to 401k (with a match), and a generous parental leave.
Home office and tech budget - Besides paying for your work computer (Mac or PC), we offer a one-time $1000 home office stipend and an additional $500 annual budget for extra work-related technology.
Coworking space, on us - Home office not cutting it? We'll reimburse your monthly co-working fees.
Equity - We want everyone invested in our success. We grant every employee equity in the company.
Transparency and collaboration - We foster team alignment with meetings of all shapes and sizes—a twice a month all-hands meeting called Allcues, a weekly newsletter and an annual learning stipend.
Flexible Time Off - We believe time away to reflect and explore makes us all more productive, so employees don’t accrue vacation time – they work with their managers to schedule time off when they need it, consistent with our Flexible Time Off policy. Employees based in the USA also take off all US federal holidays. Employees residing in other countries can choose to follow their local national holidays or US federal holidays.

We use AI to help us move faster and stay organized throughout the hiring process. But the people reviewing your application, making decisions, and (hopefully) welcoming you to the team? Those are real humans. If you'd like to know more about how we handle your data, don't hesitate to ask.
