JOB TITLE: Vice President Business Development
REPORTS TO: SVP Business Development
LOCATION: Remote
Kindle Energy LLC (“Kindle”) is a leading power generation and asset management company focused on the management, optimization, and development of energy assets across the United States and Canada. A portfolio company of Blackstone Group Inc., one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers with over $1 trillion in assets under management, Kindle operates with the backing of a premier global investment firm.
Kindle currently manages 9.4 GW of power generation assets located in Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, and Colorado. Our development and construction achievements include construction of Magnolia Power, LLC, a 700 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) project in Louisiana and Mountain Peak Power (164 MW) and Canyon Peak Power (156 MW) peaking projects in Colorado. We are actively working to expand our footprint through several distinct natural gas projects under development including Wolf Summit Energy (West Virginia) – a 610 MW CCGT.
Each of these projects reinforce Kindle’s growth and our commitment to delivering reliable, efficient, and flexible power solutions to meet evolving grid demands.
The Vice President of Business Development will direct a multi-functional team to coordinate development and commercialization of greenfield and brownfield project developments to help Kindle meet growing demand for cleaner, more reliable sources of power for clients across the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives for the development of greenfield gas-fired generation projects
  • Negotiate commercial contracts for the power purchase agreements, EPC agreements, power island equipment, partnership agreements and other major commercial documents
  • Support and initiate business development efforts, working collaboratively with various colleagues, for new build as well as ongoing project and business development initiatives
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships in support of development initiatives (e.g. relationships with landowners, prospective offtakers, community leaders, partners, vendors, etc.)
  • Support and lead analyses, structuring, legal drafting, and negotiations associated with complex transactions for power plant developments (e.g. engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, offtake, fuel supply, permits, market trends, insurance related matters, etc.)
  • Creation of business case proposals for executive management and presentations for business growth and development opportunities
  • Evaluate and due diligence to help make recommendations in support of large customer/industry initiatives, long-term contracted investments, and new growth opportunities
  • Review, research, and respond to customer request for proposals (“RFPs”)
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of bachelors’ degree required, preferred coursework in business or a technical field; previous experience in the energy/power industry could be substituted in lieu of a business or technical degree
  • Relevant work experience that will translate into a fast-paced environment
  • Performance is the ultimate discriminator; looking for a self starter willing to take initiative in a lean and dynamic environment
  • Must have a high level of self-awareness, motivation, and ability to communicate openly and timely with team members and outside counterparties
  • Advanced technical and communications skills, including exceptional data analytics, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • High proficiency in analytical and presentation tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS/mapping tools and other applications
  • Exceptional project management, communications, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility and ability to prioritize and work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Willingness to learn and be trained in new areas as well as the power generation industry
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed
