Job description

Join our Books finance team and become a key player in shaping financial strategy within Amazon's original business line. In this role, you will analyze the underlying economics of the publishing industry, translate inputs to financial reporting, and guide strategic decisions to optimize profitability. You will work in an ever-evolving business that Amazon has historically innovated and changed through innovative offerings like Kindle, Kindle Direct Publishing, and Kindle Unlimited.


This position requires someone who can look around corners, be proactive, and remain comfortable with ambiguity. You will partner closely with business teams, providing accurate controllership while using financial insights to chart business strategy. Your analytical skills will help identify trends that need attention, and your business partnering abilities will position you as a trusted advisor who can think big and drive strategic impact.
Key job responsibilities
- Dive deep to build comprehensive analyses, models, and narratives that deliver strategic results for the books business, focusing on areas to grow long-term value while maintaining strong appreciation for customer experience goals.
- Partner with business leaders to provide financial insights that challenge assumptions when necessary, sharing findings and recommendations that influence data-driven decision making across the organization.
- Own financial reporting for the books business area with exceptional accuracy, ensuring compliance with internal and external policies while identifying opportunities to improve financial data integrity.
- Monitor and analyze business performance, proactively communicating trends that need attention and developing action plans to address areas requiring optimization.
- Design and implement scalable, auditable data analysis processes that provide strategic guidance on profitability optimization, demonstrating frugality and accomplishing more with less.
