The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is the largest and most diverse academic unit of the University of Denver, encompassing a variety of departments, schools, and centers. CAHSS students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed across a wide range of careers in today's globally connected society.

The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Denver seeks a part-time Graphic Designer to support the creation and delivery of design assets across print and digital channels for CAHSS departments, schools, programs, and college-wide initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role works to execute design requests such as event materials and promotional collateral to digital graphics and branded templates. The Graphic Designer receives project instructions from all members of the CAHSS Marketing Team and collaborates closely with colleagues to produce work that is on-brand, audience-appropriate, and delivered on time.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Design and produce print and digital materials for CAHSS departments, schools, and programs, including but not limited to:

  • Event collateral: invitations, save-the-dates, programs, signage, and promotional posters.

  • Digital assets: social media graphics, email headers and banners, web graphics, and digital display materials.

  • Marketing and recruitment materials: brochures, one-pagers, flyers, and departmental fact sheets.

  • Creation of branded materials for recurring departmental use, including newsletter headers, presentation decks, and report covers.

  • Ensure all design work adheres to University of Denver and CAHSS brand standards, including typography, color, logo usage, and accessibility guidelines.

  • Receive and interpret project tasks from the CAHSS Marketing Team, asking clarifying questions as needed to produce accurate, high-quality design assets.

  • Manage multiple concurrent design projects with varying deadlines and communicate proactively about timelines and capacity.

  • Prepare and package files for both digital delivery and professional print production, including proper resolution, color profiles, and bleed specifications.

  • Incorporate feedback from the marketing team and departmental stakeholders constructively and efficiently.

  • Maintain organized file management and version control across all active and archived design projects.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows, templates, and brand asset libraries.

  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Canva and other design tools.

  • Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy.

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards in design, including color contrast and readable typography.

  • Ability to design for both print and digital formats with attention to the technical requirements of each.

  • Ability to work from a creative brief and translate written direction into effective visual communication.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to receive and act on feedback professionally.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.

  • Ability to work with inclusive and underrepresented populations using an inclusive, equity-minded approach.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • Two or more years of professional graphic design experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

  • Portfolio demonstrating experience designing for both print and digital applications.

  • Experience preparing files for professional offset and digital print production.

  • Experience working within an established brand system and producing work that maintains brand integrity across audiences and use cases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education, nonprofit, or an agency environment.

  • Familiarity with Canva or other template-based design tools used in collaborative institutional environments.

  • Experience designing email marketing platforms and social media channels.

  • Experience working in large, multi-departmental organizations with internal stakeholders.

Working Environment

This is a fully remote position. Frequent interaction with marketing team members and department stakeholders across CAHSS. Interruptions and shifting project priorities are common.
