We are a leading tax law firm in San Francisco looking for an experienced enrolled agent to support our team of tax attorneys. The qualified candidate will be a competent tax professional with the demonstrated ability to provide our clients accurate and efficient tax resolution and tax preparation services. We are a high-volume Firm looking for the right tax professional to join our collaborative, engaged and productive team.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under minimal supervision responsible for performing tax functions including but not limited to contacting IRS and State agencies, developing, and submitting payment plan requests, preparing tax returns, and collaborating with legal staff for assigned clients. Perform all work in accordance with federal and state regulations and guided by firm standard operating procedures and within the limits of established policies and service level agreements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • You will be responsible for contacting the IRS and States and submitting payment plan requests, first-time abatements, non-collectible status and working with administrative staff to secure any information needed from clients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff on assigned cases.
  • Assist attorney to prioritize and manage assigned case load to meet established service deliverables effectively, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Obtain and review financial documents to determine the best resolution for clients.
  • Communicate with the IRS / State agencies to discuss matters and accomplish desired outcomes.
  • Release levies on bank accounts and wages.
  • Negotiate installment agreements, partial pay, offer in compromise, and other available solutions.
  • Conduct client calls and meetings to facilitate the exchange of information and documentation to support service delivery.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Identify opportunities to expand the scope of services a client is using with the firm and engage internal partners to support expanding the client relationship.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with clients.
  • Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
  • Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • None

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Must have active Enrolled Agent (EA) license.
  • Must have active valid Centralized Authorization File (CAF) number from IRS.
  • Five (5) years of experience conducting negotiations with the IRS.
  • Tax preparation experience is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
