Enrolled Agent (EA) โ€“ Tax Controversy & Resolution

New Gig Solutions is partnering with a rapidly growing and highly respected firm in the Tax Law industry to identify an experienced Enrolled Agent (EA) for a leadership-focused opportunity supporting complex federal and state tax controversy matters.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior-level tax professional who wants more than just case production. The firm is seeking someone who can mentor staff, help drive operational excellence, and serve as a strategic advisor to clients navigating sophisticated tax matters.

The preferred setup for this role is hybrid in the Atlanta market, however the firm is open to considering fully remote candidates for the right individual with strong experience and a proven track record.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Mentor and support junior tax professionals and staff
  • Assist with workflow management, delegation, and team development
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide coaching on complex matters
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management initiatives

Tax Controversy & Client Strategy

  • Handle complex IRS and state tax controversy matters including:
    • Offers in Compromise (OIC)
    • Installment Agreements (IA)
    • Audits and Appeals
    • Penalty Abatement
    • Collections and Resolution work
  • Develop strategic solutions for high-net-worth and business clients
  • Review filings, correspondence, and settlement proposals for accuracy and compliance
  • Serve as a primary client contact and maintain strong client relationships
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and leadership on advanced tax matters and procedural strategy

Qualifications

  • Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential in good standing
  • 5+ years of experience focused on tax controversy, tax resolution, or IRS representation
  • Strong understanding of IRS collections, audits, appeals, and compliance procedures
  • Prior experience mentoring staff or leading teams preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
