Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Senior DoD Staff Writing SMEs to contribute their expertise to an AI-focused project. The role involves creating, reviewing, and evaluating DoD-style reports and staff writing while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with federal standards.

No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create prompts, input materials, and reference responses for DoD staff writing tasks.
  • Develop grading guidelines and rubrics for evaluating AI-generated content.
  • Produce authentic DoD-style reports, including WARs, SITREPs, executive summaries, and performance reports.
  • Review AI-generated reports for accuracy, tone, structure, and compliance.
  • Provide feedback to improve prompts, responses, and evaluation criteria.
  • Support weekly, monthly, and ad hoc federal reporting formats.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant federal or DoD experience in staff writing or reporting.
  • Experience producing WARs, SITREPs, executive summaries, and similar reports.
  • Background with a US military branch preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and federal documentation.
  • Strong understanding of DoD terminology, reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • US-based with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
