The VP of Accounting, Controller is a transformation-oriented finance leader accountable for building a scalable, audit-ready, and systems-driven accounting function. This role will lead the modernization of Procede's financial infrastructure-including ERP implementation, close acceleration, and data integrity-while establishing the rigor, discipline, and visibility required in a PE-backed environment.
Success is defined by the ability to replace manual processes with automated systems, improve financial speed and accuracy, and build a high-performing team that can support growth and increasing complexity.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, driving efficiency and accuracy
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Own revenue accounting, including compliance with ASC 606 and oversight of ARR/CARR reporting
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Lead external audits and maintain an audit-ready environment
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of ERP and financial systems
  • Oversee integration of ERP with CRM, billing, payroll, and other platforms
  • Build and manage a scalable finance technology stack that enables automation and data accuracy
  • Drive automation and process improvements across accounting operations (AP, expenses, accruals, close)
  • Oversee cash management, forecasting, and banking relationships
  • Drive improvements in collections, disbursements, and working capital efficiency
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team
  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, and operational leaders to support strategic decision-making

Desired Qualifications/Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead full-cycle ERP implementations and finance system integrations
  • Proven ability to improve close timelines, build accounting rigor, and scale processes in growth environments
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to execute in ambiguous, fast-paced settings
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives to completion
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, particularly in SaaS or recurring revenue models
  • Ability to design and implement accounting policies and ensure audit readiness
  • Strong understanding of revenue, commissions, and complex transaction structures
  • Experience implementing cash forecasting and improving working capital performance
  • Strong understanding of treasury operations, liquidity management, and cash controls
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to executives and non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills, particularly with GTM, operations, and leadership teams

Requirements
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership roles
  • Prior Controller or VP Accounting experience in a SaaS or recurring revenue environment
  • Proven experience leading ERP implementation and finance transformation initiatives
  • Experience in PE-backed or high-growth environments strongly preferred
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent

Travel Requirements
  • Limited travel (up to ~10%), primarily for ERP implementation, audits, and leadership activities

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit at a desk, computer terminal or meeting table for a long period of time
  • Ability to use hands and fingers or adoptive equipment to safely operate assigned equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to use telephone frequently for a long period of time, and to hear and speak clearly by telephone

Location and Compensation
This is a hybrid-remote role; candidates based in San Diego county are expected to work a minimum of one day per week in the office, those residing outside of San Diego county will be considered fully remote. The base salary for this role starts at $150,000 to $210,000 per year, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, and location, etc.
