GPI is seeking a full time Network Engineer to support and report to the Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Westbury, NY. This is a 24/7 operations center responsible for managing more than 1,000 traffic signals and monitoring 125+ traffic cameras across the County.
In this role, you will serve as the technical expert for the traffic communications network and the field Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices that enable real time traffic management. These systems include traffic signals, CCTV cameras, and supporting communications infrastructure. You will work on-site and collaborate closely with County staff, GPI's Project Manager, and a Deputy Network Engineer to ensure the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of a complex IP network. Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of the Traffic Communications Network
  • Troubleshoot network issues affecting both office and field-deployed equipment
  • Assign and manage IP addresses and VLANs
  • Maintain accurate inventory of network assets
  • Configure, operate, maintain, and upgrade network infrastructure
  • Support network security best practices and system hardening
  • Integrate new network and ITS assets into the existing environment
  • Provide hands-on technical support for traffic signal, CCTV, and communications systems

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Current Cisco CCNA certification
  • Strong experience with network troubleshooting
  • Ability and willingness to work on site at the Nassau County TMC in Westbury, NY
  • Availability to support assigned weekday shifts (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNP Enterprise certification (current or actively working toward)
  • Experience installing and configuring Cisco Catalyst switches
  • Experience configuring Cisco ASA firewalls
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, and multicast video

Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
