About The Role

The Community Operations organization at Uber is responsible for delivering world-class customer support across all modalities. Within this organization, the AV Remote Support team operates at the intersection of operations and autonomy, providing real-time support to autonomous vehicles in live environments.

As an AV Remote Support Specialist , you will operate as a frontline specialist handling complex and ambiguous real-time AV scenarios, requiring strong judgment and technical aptitude. This role aligns with advanced support expectations, requiring decision-making in edge cases and collaboration across stakeholders.


What You Will Do

  • Provide real-time intervention using camera and sensor feeds to support AV operations
  • Guide vehicles through edge-case scenarios (e.g., road closures, obstructions, unusual traffic behavior)
  • Exercise judgment in situations without clearly defined procedures
  • Handle escalations and high-complexity incidents as part of core responsibilities
  • Document incidents and provide detailed reports for downstream teams
  • Communicate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Identify recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis
     

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to work shift schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts
  • Ability to pass required certification training
  • Understanding of U.S. traffic laws
  • At least 1 year of experience in operations, technical support, product testing, or similar roles
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license* issued by a U.S. state or territory, if assigned duties that require licensed-driver judgment or if a license is legally or operationally required for the assigned work.

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain strong decision-making and focus during critical real-time operational incidents.
  • Experience working in the AV Industry
